Summary
Marvel’s Spider-Manfans have “lost hope” forSpider-Man 2’s rumoured DLC and the upcoming Venom game, as both were no-shows at last night’s State of Play.
Last night’s State of Play was generally a low-key affair that didn’t have too many huge announcements, but there were a few updates about first-party games, including Astro Bot, Horizon, and even the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. There was one studio that was completely absent from the showcase that fans were really expecting to see, though -Insomniac Games.
While it really hasn’t been that long since Spider-Man 2 released, there have been a lot of expectations surrounding Insomniacever since it was hit with a massive data breachthat revealedpretty much every project that it’s going to be working on over the next ten years. Two of those projects include DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and a standalone Venom game.
Spider-Man Fans Have Lost Hope For The Beetle DLC
With those projects being known for quite some time now, fans have been wondering when Insomniac would officially unveil them and give more details. The DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (which is rumoured to focus on The Beetle) is something that seemed particularly likely considering the fact that it’s nearly been a year since Spider-Man 2 released.
One post from Redditor josi1999 says that they’ve assumed that Insomniac has just moved on toits next game and that support for Spider-Man 2 is no longer happening. This hasn’t been confirmed, of course, but neither had The Beetle DLC and with Spider-Man 2 reportedly costing PlayStation so much, it’s possible that an expansion isn’t deemed worth the resources.
The subreddit is also full ofcalls for information about Wolverine and the leaked standalone Venom game, although it’s a little more understandable considering they’re not planned for release for a few years. Still, the general message is that fans are wanting an update on any of Insomniac’s projects, something that will seemingly have to wait until the next PlayStation showcase.
