Summary
Toys for Bobhas included a new teaser image on the studio’s website. Under the ‘Recent Games’ section on thestudio’s homepage, there is a white question mark on a purple background beside Crash Team Rumble, Toys for Bob’s most recent release.
This follows theannouncement of a partnershipbetween Toys for Bob and Xbox, which was revealed using a graphic with a purple background. As Xbox (via Activision) is the current IP holder for Spyro the Dragon, and Toys for Bob developed the Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Skylanders, there is a strong possibility that Toys for Bob is currently working with Xbox on a new Spyro game.
Eurogamer reportsthat Spyro 4 has been developing at Toys for Bob since January of this year. If this turns out to be true, it’s very early days for Spyro 4. As Toys for Bob only became independent from its previous parent company Activision in May, this would suggest the studio has been working on Spyro 4 since before it departed the Xbox Games ecosystem.
Return of the Dragon
Spyro hasn’t had a mainline entry since 2008’s The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, the third of a rebooted trilogy. Toys for Bob’s Reignited Trilogy, a remake of the original three games, was released in 2018 to a positive reception.
Despite the development of Spyro 4 seeming increasingly likely, fans are wary about getting their hopes up for fear of being disappointed. This is evident whenever you readreplies to rumours about Spyro 4.
It seems unlikely Toys for Bob will make an official announcement on its current project if it’s still in early development, so it could be a couple of years before we hear anything official on the Spyro 4 front.
