Summary

Star Warsfans think that Cal Kestis is doomed to die in the recently announced final game in theJeditrilogy, something that’s been assumed ever sinceFallen Order.

From the momentRespawn announced that it was working on a Star Wars game starring a Jedithat takes place before the original trilogy, there’s been one big point of discussion - wouldeveryone’s favourite ginger Jedi, Cal Kestis, be able to survive his story, or would he suffer the same fate as pretty much everyone else during that time?

Cal barely manages to scrape by in both Fallen Order and Survivor, leaving his fate up in the air by the timehe takes down Bode and ends up on Tanalorr with the rest of the Mantis Crew. Now that a third and final game in the trilogy has been announced, fans are once again discussing his fate - and it doesn’t look good.

Star Wars Jedi Fans Think Cal Is Going To Die

Yesterday, EA finally confirmed what we had all assumed byrevealing that Respawn is currently working on another Jedi game. The most interesting detail, however, is that it’s going to be the “final chapter” of the Jedi trilogy, which means that we’re going to see the conclusion to Cal’s long-running story.

Star Wars fans have been theorising aboutwhat could happen to Cal for quite some time, but now we’re in the final home stretch of his journey, the conversation has been picked right back up. Unfortunately, it seems that most fans think that Cal is destined to die in the final game and won’t be able to escape his fate.

Take Twitter user spinneretmj for example, who retweeted the news of the Jedi announcement and said, “He’s so doomed by the narrative it’s not even funny. It’s so cal kestisover”. Another fan pointed out that Star Wars is all about people dying and the audience finding out how, while TripleAAAkers7 cleverly theorisedthat Cal manages to defeat and injure Vader before dying and that’s why he’s so slow in A New Hope.

Shadowrain10 put it best when they said, “He’s a Jedi post Episode 3 who’s had a close encounter with Vader, I’m pretty sure he’s on borrowed time”.

The only thing on Cal Kestis' side that might make his survival more likely is that he and the Mantis Crew do have a home on Tanalorr that the Empire doesn’t know about. One of the main points of finding the planet in Jedi: Survivor was to provide a safe haven for Jedi away from the Sith. If that manages to keep being the case, he does have a chance, but it’s a very slim one.
