Summary

Star Warshas been having a pretty decent time in the video game market lately, and while it’s nice to havedecent games from the series like Star Wars Outlaws, the crown jewel for Disney will undoubtedly have been the Star Wars Jedi series from developer Respawn Entertainment and publisher Electronic Arts.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen OrderandSurvivorare both very beloved titles, and very successful to boot. Series protagonist Cal Kestis has become a key figure in the Star Wars universe, despite his lack of live action screen time, but it seems as though his time in the spotlight may be coming to an end.

In a presentation during EA’s investor relations day (thanksVGC), EA Entertainment and Technology president Laura Miele revealed that “the final chapter” of the Star Wars Jedi series is currently in development at Respawn, suggesting the next game in the series will be the last.

“We have delivered some of the highest quality and best-selling Star Wars games of all-time, with over $5 billion in net bookings,” said Miele. “This impressive track record includes, of course, the Star Wars Jedi games, where over 40 million Star Wars fans have connected with Cal Kestis and his arc of becoming a powerful Jedi. Respawn is working hard to bring the final chapter of this thrilling story to players.”

Star Wars Jedi Will Be A Trilogy After All

This news isn’t all that surprising. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor director Stig Asmussen admitted before he left Respawn thathe’d like to make the series a trilogy, andCal Kestis actor Cameron Monaghan revealed that a third game was in developmentback in 2023. However, this is the first official confirmation we’ve had from EA and Respawn that a third game is being made, and that it will be the last one in the series.

Given that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor only came out last year, we’ll be waiting quite a while for the ending to Cal Kestis' story. If the gap between Fallen Order and Survivor is anything to go by, we’re looking at potentially 2027 before we see the ending to the Star Wars Jedi trilogy.
