From the moment it was revealed as a co-op live-service game,Kill the Justice League has struggled to hold the attention of even the biggest DC fans.
Things were pretty rough at launch, but they’ve only gotten worse with each new season. The first, which introduced a strange variant of Joker,failed to reignite any interest for most players, a fate that wascarried on with the frosty (pun intended) reception to Mrs Freeze in Season 2. In news that will shock no one, history is repeating itself with Season 3.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s new season kicked off yesterdayand, while the introduction of an alternate universe version of Deadshot’s daughter called Lawless should be exciting, it’s clearly not enough to bring most players back.As reported by Eurogamer,Kill the Justice League’s SteamDB chartsshow that it only managed to hit a peak of 248 players when the new season launched.
As of the time of writing, that number has dropped to just 182 active players, which I probably don’t need to tell you is very bad for the launch of a live-service game’s latest season. That number is likely higher on PS5 and Xbox Series since they seem to have the main playerbase for Kill the Justice League, but it’s still likely not doing well there either.
Kill the Justice League’s player count has even managed to dip lower than 100 over the past few weeks, a number it’s barely been able to double with a new season.
While it’s true that there are simply a lot of games out right now to play that are going to take priority for most over Suicide Squad, it’s becoming clearer and clearer with each update that there’s simply no redeeming Kill the Justice League. The only new character who has the slightest chance is Deathstroke, but it seems likely that even he can’t save this flaming wreck.
