ATekken 8dataminer has found references to what appears to be the game’s next DLC character, who seems to be codenamed “PHK” and has a mechanic involving emissive skin.
Although Bandai Namco and Tekken Teammanaged to surprise most fans by bringing Heihachi back from the dead, Tekken 8’s DLC characters have so far been pretty predictable. Eddy and Lidia weren’t that shocking, especially when you compare them to Negan, Noctis, and Akuma in Tekken 7.
That surprise factor also hasn’t been helped all that much bydataminers and leakers finding evidence for who was going to be added as DLC. Towards the start of the year,a leak revealed Eddy and Lidia would be coming to the game, spoiling half of the new characters coming in the first year. While Heihachi managed to avoid that fate, it seems like the identity of the fourth and final character is becoming clearer.
Tekken 8’s Next DLC Fighter Might Have “Emissive” Skin
Over on Twitter, UMIN_ shared a tweet revealing that Bandai Namco has added features to the skin material of the next DLC character, who is abbreviated as “PHK”. That’s a weird sentence to write up, but it essentially means that the upcoming fighter will have some kind of mechanic to do with their skin.
This is backed up by a parameter in the files called “PHK_Emissive_Tiles_Contrast”, suggesting that the fighter has emissive skin. This could really end up meaning anything, but a lot of fans have theorised that it could be referring to Fahkumram from Tekken 7, whose skin would occasionally glow and flash.
Although the name “PHK” might seem like it goes against the fighter being Fahkumram, it doesn’t seem to mean anything and the emissive skin is the bigger bit of evidence here.
While the emissive skin feature could be applied to any character, old or new, it would make some sense for Fahkumram to be the next character. Some time ago,a dataminer found evidence that one of the DLC fighters is a Muay Thai fighter from Thailand, which is exactly what Fahkumram is. That datamine was correct in a lot of places, so it does track with this recent leak.
Although the evidence is there for PHK being Fahkumram, it’s worth noting that dataminers have been incorrect in the past and aren’t worth following completely, something that UMIN_ pointed out. The emissive skin does bring the Muay Thai fighter to mind, but it could also be someone completely different so it’s worth waiting for the official reveal.
