If you intend to pull off a heist against the biggest crime syndicate out there, you have to ensure your blaster is up to the challenge - especially since that’s your only main weapon throughout the game. Kay Vess has quite the journey ahead of her inStar Wars Outlaws, and you’ll find a lot of ways to mod and upgrade your blaster here.

You’ll have three main variations you’ll unlock throughout the story, and each can be further upgraded to ensure ultimate destruction. From charged shots to quick-fire, there are quite a few tricks you can do here.

6Light Configuration

Plasma Module

First, let’s begin with the default variation of the weapon, the plasma module. Its light configuration is the one you’ll start the game with, where the blaster simply has a standard shot. It might seem underwhelming, but once fully upgraded, it’s quite the damage.

It’s more than enough to deal with the simpler enemies, and whenever a particularly powerful enemy appears, the plasma configurations will often not be the best call anyway. Thus, your basic blaster is quite helpful right away.

5Rapid Configuration

All that said, the rapid configuration is a good replacement for the light one once you get it. As the name implies, you can shoot faster with this one by simply holding the trigger and shooting your opponent multiple times.

It has a slight downside of not being as accurate, with the shots dispersing a bit from where you’re aiming at, meaning this configuration won’t be as effective from too far away. Still, you’ll annihilate your enemies by holding the trigger for a few seconds, giving them little room to react.

Don’t forget: you can only have one of these configurations equipped per module. This means that equipping the rapid configuration will require you to let go of the light configuration. See which one fits your playstyle more and go with it.

4Burst Configuration

Ion Module

The burst configuration is the default setting for when you unlock the ion module of your blaster. These shots are perfect for stunning enemies and dealing with droids since they’re mechanical and your shots are electric. It also helps with shields.

Despite being the basic version, just like the light configuration, its range and precision make the burst configuration very effective on its own. The stunning is quite effective if you have many targets to deal with and still need to build up your adrenaline. Lastly, the whole ion module will be more effective withthe disruptor set,and this particular configuration will shine with this set and its range.

3Surge Configuration

Since this is a variation of the ion module, many of the things stated above apply here, from being effective against droids and shields to shots that stun enemies. What changes here is the punch, as the shot itself is a lot stronger.

That raw power comes with the setback of having a lower rate of fire, but the impact is strong enough to deal with many enemies. And despite the fact this configuration is more effective up close, the shots still go quite far.

2Bolt Configuration

Power Module

The power module is the last one you’ll unlock, and the bolt configuration is its default. While the plasma module has a nice heavy shot, it pales in comparison to the bolt configuration, thanks to its absurd damage. You have to charge your shot before releasing the trigger - this time can be decreased with upgrades - but once you hit someone, it hurts. It also comes withthe perk of breaking walls, but all power configurations can do that.

In fact, this weapon is an easy one-hit-kill against anyone who isn’t an elite enemy, and it even kills those enemies with ease. The only downside is having to charge each shot and wasting a lot of time if you happen to miss your shot. But this configuration is one of the best among all modules, not just the ones from the power module.

Let one module compensate for the other’s weakness. For instance, the heavy configuration under the plasma module is good, but as we mentioned above, the bolt configuration is a lot better. Thus, you may keep this one to take care of the high-impact damage and let the plasma module focus on something else, such as rapid fire.

1Pulse Configuration

Read the previous entry, but turn everything up to 11. You get a second charge bar on your shots. If you only charge the first bar, it won’t do anything too different from the bolt configuration. However, going all the way will make your shot even stronger.

Essentially, you have the pro of causing even more damage and the con of having to charge it more. Charging it all the way is a bit of overkill against most enemies, which means you’re able to leave it forafter the game is over, but getting it as early as possible will make your power module particularly effective against elite enemies, taking them down with a few shots. If you plan to constantly use it against basic enemies, however, then keeping the bolt configuration might be the better option for you.
