Roblox’s Sonic Speed Simulator has you running around the areas you’ve come to know and love from past Sonic titles, collecting Rings and leveling up to increase your speed.
To help you on your journey, you can find hundreds of different Chao and Trails that boost your stats and give you unique bonuses. With so many Chao and Trails to choose from, you might find yourself wondering: which ones are the best?
What Are Chao And Trails
Chao are cute little creatures, and have a variety of different features and colors that distinguish them from one another. In Sonic Speed Simulator, they serve as petsyou can have floating around your character as you run through the areas, andthey give you bonuses in certain stats.
Trails function similarly, asthey also give you bonuses in stats, and a trail is just that - a trail that trails behind you as you’re dashing at the speed of sound.
At a time, you can equip up tothree Chao(up to five if you buy the +2 Pet Slots gamepass), andone Trail.
Chao and Trails can beleveled upwith Rings and Red Star Rings,up to level 25- every fifth level will require an amount of Red Star Rings depending on the tier of the Chao or Trail.
What Are Stats
Chao and Trails can boost up tothree different stats:
Whilst some will only boost one or two of these stats, most mid-to-late game Chao and Trails willboost all three to some degree.
Apart from this, Chao and Trails can both havespecial bonus stats:
What Are Fast Friends
Fast Friends are an alternative to Chao that take thebest statsof all of your Chao and rolls them up into one pet.
For example, if you had a Chao with +20 Rings and +10 XP, and another Chao with +10 Rings and +20 XP, the fast friend willonly take the best stat from each Chao, giving it +20 Rings and +20 XP.
This works across your whole inventory of Chao, so very quickly the hunt for the best Chao in each stat becomes important.
Because of the way Fast Friends work, you’re going to want the best out ofeach basic stat, asbonus stats don’t counttowards the Fast Friends stats.
What Are The Best Chao And Trails
Limited-time Events can net you Chao and Trails - and theseEvent-limited Chao and Trails are the bestin the game. Once the Event ends, the only way to obtain them is via trading.
Throughout the game, you will also findVending Machinesthat cost either Rings or Red Star Rings to roll for a random Chao or Trail within it.These are always available to you, meaning if you unlocked the World you will always have access to them. This is the only way toconsistently get Chao and Trails, and these arefree alternatives to the bestChao and Trails in the game as well.
The stats provided are forlevel 25 Fused Chao, meaningyou’d need to get fiveof the listed chao, level them all upto level 25 andfuse them- after which, the fused chao once again needs to beleveled up to level 25.

Best Chao And Trails Overall
As Chao and Trails generally excel at only one stat, it’s hard to pick which ones to have equipped at all times.
XP and Damage arenot as useful as Rings- but more important than these base stats are arguably thebonus statsthat some Chao and Trails have to offer.
For this reason, we have compiled a list of notable Chao and Trails that we picked out as important to have on hand for different situations.
Here are our picks forthe best Trails overall:
As for Chao, it gets a bit more complicated, as the Chao themselves aren’t the ones you should have equipped at all times.Fast Friends are far more important, as these can be further upgraded to boost these max stats beyond what is otherwise possible.
