Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2offers players six classes to choose from in fighting the forces of the Imperium. Each class is valid and able to tackle any content in the game, although some shine just a bit more than the rest.
It cannot be stressed enough that each of the six classes is a perfectly fine choice for every player. Even the lowest ranking class on the list is viable, and at the end of the day, whichever class you enjoy the most is the best class for you. With that said, here are the classes in Space Marine 2, ranked.
6Heavy
Heavy is at the bottom of the list due mainly to its ease of use. While its ability, Iron Halo, is great at dealing with ranged damage, you do not have many options when enemies get close.
The heavy is the only class without access to any melee weapons, only able to hit enemies with their primary weapon (which, to be fair, is usually a pretty big gun). They do have access to theMulti-Meltaand plasma rifle, which are incredible primary weapons in their own right.
5Assault
Assault is one of those classes that takes time and effort on the player’s part to really come into its own. Equipped with a jump pack, this class is able to take to the skies and come crashing down on any unsuspecting enemies. However, the ability itself is a bit cumbersome to use.
They are also the only class that can use the Thunder Hammer, which is a very fun weapon. It needs some leveling to really begin to shine and output comparable performance to its peers.
4Vanguard
TheVanguardis a great class for an aggressive playstyle. With its Grapnel Shot ability, you can quickly pull yourself towards any enemy and deliver a mean dropkick. This both does high damage and easily allows you to interrupt enemies summoning reinforcements, which, in higher difficulties, means the difference between victory and defeat.
With weapons, you get access to a decent selection of the game’s best weapons, including the Melta rifle, which is one of the highest-damage and most effective weapons in the game, next to the sniper weapons. With these tools, Vanguard lives up to its name as a front-liner on the battlefield.
3Tactical
The Tactical is so great because of its versatility, as well as its ultimate ability. With Auspex Scan, you are able to highlight large groups of enemies, or even single enemies and bosses, and outline them in a yellow border. This ability also lets everyone do increased damage to the enemies affected, and it can absolutely melt bosses.
The Tactical also gets access to the widest arsenal of primary weapons, which allows you plenty of options to suit your needs. The Tactical is one of those classes that may not seem like the flashiest, but it is an unsung hero of higher difficulties.
2Bulwark
TheBulwarkis the tank of the classes, equipped with a melee weapon for offense and shield for defense. It is the only class that has access to the Power Sword, which is an incredibly versatile weapon able to clear out waves or go toe-to-toe with bosses.
However, the biggest thing that makes this class so effective is its ability,Chapter Banner. By default, the chapter banner allows you to drop a flag that refills your, and allies, armor. But the fun doesn’t stop there. There are perks very early on that add amazing effects to the banner, being able to deal damage to enemies, and even revive fallen teammates, making Bulwark almost a must-have for any squad.
1Sniper
The Bulwark andSnipercan both be argued to take the number one spot. Both classes are incredibly useful to have on any mission, and having both is ideal. However, we chose Sniper simply for its damage output in comparison to the defensive utility of the Bulwark.
The sniper gets access to the sniper class of weapons, including the Las Fusil, which is an extremely high-powered laser weapon useable at great range. Even un-upgraded, this weapon deals lots of damage, and upgrading both the weapon and the class only increases that damage, especially if you’re able to land consistent headshots. Combined with the sniper’s ability to cloak itself and re-cloak, the Sniper is easily the best class in the game, right next to Bulwark.
