A feature that has quickly become a new tradition for The Legend of Zelda series is having a range of outfits for our protagonist to try on. Starting with the focus of Triforce Heroes being the range of different costumes for your trio of Links to wear, the choice of clothing has remained a staple for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
Echoes of Wisdomis no different, with Zelda able to wear a variety of different costumes and outfits that she’ll unlockthroughout her adventure. You’ll only get two outfits during the main story, so there are plenty of outfits you’ve likely missed. Some of these outfits have abilities, and others don’t, but which is the best choice?
8Disguise
Cover Art Cape
The Disguise outfit will likely be the most iconic outfit associated with Echoes of Wisdom thanks to its prevalence in marketing materials, as well as being the only option for the first half of the game. Designed to keep the princess of Hyrule incognito, the cape is directly inherited from the ‘musty-smelling’ Link.
In spite of its dubious origins, the outfit fulfills the role of keeping the identity of Zelda safe for the first half of the game, but as soon as you find another outfit, you’ll probably not want to equip this one again.
7Green Tunic
Repping The Triforce Of Courage
Another outfit that originallybelonged to Link, the Green Tunic is arguably the hardest outfit to unlock, kept as the final reward for completing all of the trials in the Slumber Dojo on the western side of Kakariko Village.
If you wish that Zelda could stay in the Tunic she wears when using the Sword of Might, this is the answer you’re looking for, but you won’t be able to unlock it until late in the game when all of the trials are available. Because of how tricky this outfit is to obtain, it’s a shame that you don’t get any buffs for wearing it.
6Customary Attire
Classic Zelda
If you love the classic look we’re used to seeing Zelda wearing in her previous appearances throughout The Legend of Zelda history, then going out of your way to unlock the Customary Attire clothing is worth doing.
In spite of how iconic this outfit is, it’s actually pretty easy to miss, since you’ll have to complete a prerequisite quest to unlock the side quest needed to obtain it in Hyrule Castle. Unlocking the Customary Attire is a heart-warming quest well worth doing, since we get to see more of the relationship between Zelda and her father.
5Stamp Suit
Tourist Reward
Aside from Link’s iconic Green Tunic, the other most awkward outfit to unlock is the Stamp Suit. If you’ve been keeping your eyes peeled while exploring Hyrule, then you’ve no doubt run into the Stamp Guy after interacting with your first stamp stand.
For each stamp card you fill out, Zelda will be blessed with a unique gift, and if you go to the trouble of finding all 25, then you’ll be given the outfit of Stamp Guy himself. While Stamp Guy is an eccentric new addition to the Zelda series (seemingly a Tingle replacement), his goofy outfit is one of the funniest options to give Zelda for the more melodramatic cutscenes.
4Royal Travel Attire
Mid-Game Switch Up
After beating thefirst four dungeons of Echoes of Wisdom, you’ll finally be able to clear Zelda’s name and give our hero no more reason to hide her face as she travels around Hyrule. As a reward for making it this far into the game and progressing the story to this point, you’ll be gifted the Royal Travel Attire by the King.
This outfit gives Zelda a unique look compared to her previous appearances while still keeping iconic elements of her design, like her color palette. It’s unfortunate that this fantastic look doesn’t give you any unique buffs; otherwise, it’s perfect.
3Cat Clothes
Feeling Feline
One of the more interesting side quests in Echoes of Wisdom tasks you with aiding an old man in Kakariko Village with tracking down his missing cat, and to help you find the missing feline, you’ll need to acquire the Cat Clothes that let you talk with any cats you interact with throughout the game.
You’ll get to keep the adorable outfit after completing the quest, and while being able to talk to cats is by no means the most useful ability, it does give you some unique dialogue lines that you wouldn’t get otherwise.
2Dancing Outfit
Hey Big Spinner
On your way to Gerudo Town, you’ll have likely taken a breather from the desert at the oasis, and the main activity here is helping the researcher with her Mango harvesting mini-game. Once you’ve progressed far enough in the story, she’ll offer you her final test and reward you with the Dancing Outfit for completing it.
Fittingly, as a reward for a mini-game that requires liberal use of Zelda’s spinning ability, this outfit will grant you a larger radius for Zelda’s spin. This ability is circumstantially useful, letting you deflect certain smaller projectiles, so a passive buff for it is appreciated.
1Silk Pajamas
Speedy Healer
If you head all the way back to Gerudo Town after clearing Zelda’s name, you’ll get a new test from Dohna, who will task the princess with testing out the new security guards for the treasury.
With the powers of the Tri Rod, this test shouldn’t cause too much trouble, and your reward for opening the main chest in the treasury is the Silk Pajamas. This nightwear will make beds heal Zelda much quicker than usual, perfect for a mid-fight heal if you aren’t stocked up on smoothies.
