ThePokemon TCGmakes it very easy for you to get the Pokemon you want onto your Bench. However, the biggest hurdle before you can start collecting Prize Cards is being able to knock out your opponent’s Pokemon. There are many powerful Moves that can accomplish this, but with a limit of one Energy per turn, this can be quite slow.

Luckily, some cards allow you to accelerate how much Energy you can attach to your Pokemon per turn, which can help you prepare your field faster. From item cards that can take Energy from your discard pile to Pokemon that will seek out Energy for you, here are the eight best Energy Acceleration Cards in the Pokemon TCG.

8Dark Patch

Attach Dark Energy From The Discard

Dark Patch is a powerful Item card that lets you attach Dark Energy from your discard pile to one of your Pokemon. While an additional Dark Energy might not sound like much, what makes this card go fast is the fact that it’s not a Supporter card. This means you may use as many as you want per turn as long as you have Energy in the discard pile to spare.

Dark Patch is a must-have for any deck running Ogidogi EX or using poison to power up their Pokemon. If you can put this Item back into your hand after using it, you can keep using it to attach additional Energy cards to your Pokemon.

7Baxcalibur

Water Decks Get Infinite Energy

If you’re running Chien Pao EX or any Water Pokemon, then Baxcalibur is a must-have for your Bench. This Pokemon’s Ability, Super Cold, turns off the one Energy per turn limit that most decks have. This means that as long as it’s on your Bench, you can attach as much Water Energy from your hand to your Pokemon as you want.

This can make it easy to boost your strongest Pokemon’s game-ending Moves. For Chien Pao EX, this lets you instantly put any Energy that you add to your hand from the deck or from the discard pile, so you can knock out your opponent’s Pokemon quicker.

6Metang

Attach Steel Energy From The Deck

Steel-focused decks have an excellent way of getting more Steel Energy onto their Pokemon. This is the Metang that was printed in theTemporal Forces set of the Pokemon TCG. While you have this card in play, you can look at the top four cards of your deck and immediately attach any Steel Energy that you find onto your Pokemon in any order.

What makes this Ability so good is that it doesn’t discard the non-Energy cards that you reveal. Instead, it shuffles them back into the deck, so there is little risk of losing your other resources while trying to get more Energy on the field.

5Infernape

An Abundance Of Fire And Fighting Energy

Fire and Fighting decks have their way of accelerating Energy attachment with the use of Infernape from the Twilight Masquerade set. This card needs to be Evolved from a lowly Chimchar, but once it reaches this stage, it can help you get your setup done faster than ever before.

It has an Ability called Pyro Dance which lets you attach a Fire or Fighting Energy card from your hand. If you have both, you can attach one of each. This versatility can help you get Moves ready by paying for their Fire costs but also filling out those Colorless requirements as well. It also doesn’t have to be the same Pokemon that gets the Energy, so even the Bench benefits from this.

4Archeops

Tap Into Your Special Energy

Pokemon TCG’s Silver Tempestset has one of the best Energy Acceleration cards. Archeops specifically searches for Special Energy cards from your deck and allows you to attach them to one of your Pokemon. This is a fantastic Ability to have because most Energy Acceleration effects deal with Basic Energy instead.

This helps you put cards like Reversal Energy to work and, due to the wording, would also be able to fetch Ace Spec cards that are treated as Special Energy. Since many Special Energy already help to get your Pokemon ready faster, this doubles the speed of your setup.

3Earthen Vessel

A Staple For Any Deck

One of the biggest issues with Energy acceleration tactics is that you need to actually have a way to get those Energy into your hand. Not every strategy has a way to play Energy directly from the deck. This is why searching for it and adding it to the hand is the next best thing.

Earthen Vessel is an Item card introduced inthe Shrouded Fable set, and it can fit into many decks making it a proper staple. By discarding one card, you can search your deck for any two Basic Energy cards. The best part is that this is an Item and not a Supporter, so it doesn’t use up your one Supporter use per turn.

2Superior Energy Retrieval

Recycle Multiple Energy Back At Once

There are many Pokemon Moves that just eat through all your Energy. This is because they detach themselves to the discard pile as a cost for using a powerful Move. This can lead to there being no more Energy to search for in the deck. Luckily, there is a way to get those cards back in no time.

Superior Energy Retrieval lets you discard two cards from your hand to add up to four Basic Energy cards from your discard pile to your hand. So, even if you’re playing something like Chien Pao EX, you have a way to recover those resources and use them again the next chance you have to attack.

1Joltik

The Ultimate Energy Acceleration Tactic

The Stellar Crown setintroduces one of the greatest Energy Acceleration cards of all time. Joltik is a Basic Pokemon that has a single Move. This is Jolting Charge, and it allows you to search and attack up to two Basic Grass Energy and Electric Energy from your deck to any of your Pokemon.

This gives Electric and Grass decks a major advantage in setup speed since this one Pokemon can gather four Energy in a single turn. As a Basic Pokemon, Joltik also doesn’t need to Evolve to have this Move ready for use. If it does eventually evolve into Galvantula EX, it becomes a heavy hitter and a powerful Pokemon to have in play.
