Among the vast sea of desolate stars, you will have to rely on more than just your ability to blow things up. You’ve got to have your wits about you in Sins Of A Solar Empire 2. There’s a lot to consider when planning out a victory: do you want to negotiate your win through alliances and trading, ordo you want to fight and ransack the universe and mold it to your will?
Every decision you make affects how good your chances of victory are, especially when it comes to choosing the class you want to play. If you’re a new player or don’t remember some of the finer points of each faction, our rankings below could catalyze your future decisions and hopefully serve you well.
6Vasari Alliance
Diplomacy, Not Tyranny
Generations of running and scavenging as a way of life can wear down morale on a mass level, so it’s no wonder that a subset of Vasari has come to believe that devouring and dominating your way through the galaxy can’t be the only way to live. The alliance believes that cohabitation and building up relationships with other species and factions will save them in the end.
Their ideology reflects this in their research. While the Vasari Exodus expands its…slave labor camps, the Vasari alliance will look into Nanomedicine and how it can help all people across the cosmos. Plus, if their capital is lost, but they’ve researched the passive All for One, any allies they made through the game ensure they stay active, even if they lose all of their capital.
5TEC Enclave
Combining Trade And Tactics To Survive
It’s easy to see why the TEC, and Trade space in general, attracted the attention of the Vasari. The TEC’s plentiful resource production paints a big target on their backs. The TEC factions live in relative harmony with each other. The primacy brings the heavy guns and offensive maneuvers, while the Enclave focuses on defense and maintaining trading.
In the research department, the Enclave has a focus on fortifying its base and ally ships, while War Measures allows you to rebuild capital at an accelerated rate, allowing you to throw the spare funds into repairing or rebuilding any ships you need to. Still, playing it so straight might be boring for those looking for more of a challenge.
4Advent Reborn
Embraces The Path To A Peaceful Return
If you were shunned and cast out for exploring the depths of human ingenuity and mindfulness, would you seek a path to revenge, or attempt to breed understanding through peaceful means? The Advent Reborn wishes to do the latter while reconciling that using violence to dominate isn’t the answer. That doesn’t mean you can just step to them, and they’ll just lie down and take the hits though.
Both Advent Reborn and Wrath share plenty of abilities while in battle. Combining spiritual ideology with the practical use of cybernetics stands out in their research, and they can do some truly miraculous things; even regain focus by channeling the spirits of fallen ships!
3Advent Wrath
Choosing The Path Of Vengeance
Who says peace is the better option? Maybe vengeance is long past due after being labeled heretics. Hell, maybe letting out centuries of rage at the very ones who shunned you is a better option for both a grab at power and for feeling better. The Advent Wrath welcomes this philosophy with open, and loaded, arms.
Having psychic powers serves this well, as you can use the wrath that burns inside of you and subjugate anyone with your mind. Making colonization all the easier. If word of your wrath spreads, and you earn the galaxy’s hostility, then you gain chances to recruit enemies to your side once you build the Temple of Assimilation.
2TEC Primacy
Enemy Of My Enemy Is My Ally
The TEC Primacy is the sword to the Enclave’s shield and will employ anyone who aligns with their cause. If they end up hating the Vasari or Advent as much as they do, all the better. So much so, that they’ll pay extra to those they’ve allied with on the battlefield if they kill a lot of enemies, and they can negotiate a permanent cease-fire with pirates, so long as they fight on the right side.
Their research is dedicated to indoctrination and xenophobia. Literally. The skill, Extreme Xenophobia (yes, really) makes members of the Primacy more resistant to enemies’ cultures, and can even sow discord among the people of other empires. Couple that with heavy firepower and you have an easy path to victory.
1Vasari Exodus
The Hunger To Not Be Devoured
What do you do when you were the once dominant force in the galaxy, only to be chased down and devoured by some unknown darkness from deep within the cosmos? Do you try and stand your ground, only to be devoured into nothingness in the process? Or, do you run, putting as many stars as you can between yourself and the threat?
Resource management is the name of the game with these nomadic souls. Conquer planets as quickly as you may, while taking from them everything they’re worth. Each faction has unique items and abilities, and Exodus has its own Core Stripper. The stripper siphons all the resources from a planet once your faction abandons it to find new planets to drain.
