There’s nothing like going sightseeing! While theFallout serieshas consistently taken place inside the continental United States, Fallout London has chosen to show us how another country handles the…well, the fallout of nuclear proportions. The mod is as large as the game itself, meaning there are plenty of secrets and easter eggs for you to check out and discover.
If you’ve never been to London, this is your chance! Take a gander at the beautiful River Thames (don’t go in, please), find yourself at the grand entrance of Buckingham Palace, or even get a good look at the London Eye! Today, we’ll hit all the popular stops on the tour of wasteland London, and maybe you’ll be inspired to explore it yourself. It’s free to download from GOG, so why not give it a go?
8London Bridge
It Hasn’t Fallen Again Yet!
The fictional Thames may be a festering, toxic nuclear waste river, but standing strong over it is the infamous London Bridge. The site of the bridge itself is nothing spectacular, but it’s more than earned all the songs inspired by it. No matter how many times it has been destroyed, it will always come back with a vengeance.
Perhaps that’s what makes it such an ideal place for a settlement in Fallout London. Perfectly perched on top of the Thames, completely out in the open, yet far from vulnerable. It takes a while for you to access it, but it’s worth a look once you do.
7Covent Garden
In Both, It’s Former And Present Glory
From an extravagant gardento a bustling market and back again, Covent Garden has continued to morph and persevere the passage of time in London. Dating back to the 17th century, it has always been a hub of culture and entertainment, so much so, that even the Royal Opera House has a home here.
Now, it has become home to many Hooligans, and if you want to claim it for yourself, they have to be aptly taken out. Once you do, you’re able to customize this formally treasured garden to whatever you need: living quarters, crafting, and even some defense. More than worth the trouble of fighting for it.
6Camden Lock
A Place To Call Home
After hours of running around London trying to locate your past via the mysterious Agent Smythe, you’re going to need to rest up so you won’t be caught slipping by creepy ghouls or mutants. Luckily, your hard work pays off if you decide to join the punky Pistols faction. You’ll miss out on this abode if you don’t join their faction, so choose carefully.
Once you unlock your new palace of peace, you’re treated to a cozy, brick housethat used to be a cozy café, and, true to its former nature, you will be able to install a cooking station, as well as a chemistry station. So, you’ll be able to eat and rest before conquering all of London.
5The Shard
The Start Of Something Greater
After you’ve woken up and are thrust into a mystery underground, you have to sneak and fight your way out from the underground, only to find yourself inside of this gargantuan, opulent tower that commands your attention. You don’t spend a lot of time in this area, but you can’t mistake that glass tower for anything else in the skyline.
The main hall is filled with marble lions and an interior, inexplicable mannequins strewn about, and overall decay from being neglected over the years. If you squint, the interior will remind you of another game with similar architecture: Bioshock. It’s a shame we only experienced a few floors, it would have been nice to ride it to the top.
4The London Underground
Reliable Westminster Transportation
It may seem like something insignificant to place a simple subway station on the list. Still, when you add in the fact that you can ride throughout the Westminster section of the gamewithoutfast traveling or waiting for any type of loading screens to get in your way, the notion becomes much more important.
Though, understandably, the places you may travel to using the system are rather limited due to nuclear damage and the creatures that have delved into the depths and made it their home, it’s nothing short of miraculous that there is a complete rail system that you can take advantage of.
3Buckingham Palace
Must Be An Angel To Enter
Almost everyone knows what Buckingham Palace is, even if you aren’t from the UK yourself. It’s one of the most familiar castles to exist in history and the human consciousness after all. This would be the perfect time to explore it ourselves, right? Well, not exactly, for it too has fallen victim to decay.
Yet, if you play your cards right you’ll not only get to see the dilapidated royal house, but you can also see some of the royal family that miraculously survived through extreme radiation. However, siding with Angel can have some unwanted consequences, so you use caution before trying to get an audience.
2Big Ben
Who Wouldn’t Want To See It?
The most well-known celebrity to ever reside in England, Big Ben is an international star that’s been shown in shows, movies, books, and more for as long as it existed, and is quintessential England, if you ask anyone overseas. There are not many chances to see it up close, let alone get inside the clock tower.
Eagle-eyed players might notice an er… small issue with the old grandfather clock upon closer inspection: It’s much shorter than its real-life counterpart. Don’t hold that against it though! It’s still worth finding and looking at, if for nothing else than the loot that may be nearby. The accuracy of it is more than worth the trip.
1Tower Bridge
A Better, Stronger, More Plant-Covered Bridge
The phrase London Bridge may live in infamy, but when you are put on the spot to describe the bridge itself, chances are you’ll be describing this one. The design of this bridge is imposing, and you feel as though you’re walking up to a castle instead of the bridge. Sure, there’s some wear and tear from centuries of fighting, general decay, and plants attempting to reclaim it, but that doesn’t take away from the majesty of it whatsoever.
If you’re planning on going this way, you’re going to have to prepare yourself for a grueling fight against the Beefeaters, who, without having beef for a very long time, will eagerly take a bite out of you instead. You’ve been warned.
