While mods aren’t a necessary part of playing video games, they can enhance the experience from time to time, especially if you are looking to shake things up. Additionally, some mods provide much-needed tweaks to enhance the gameplay experience. With this in mind, you can find some great mods available forAge of Mythology: Retold.
72x House Building Limit
Building an expansive civilization with tons of citizens can be hard, especially with the house-building limit capped at 16. This can put a pause on your citizen or army creating, but fortunately, there is a mod that helps.
With the 2x House Building Limit mod, you may now have a whopping 36 houses! This greatly increases your population cap, giving you the much-needed space to create even more denizens of your flourishing civilization.
6Original Voices Mod
This simple mod does exactly what it sounds like. Rather than hearing the new voice lines in Age of Mythology: Retold, you’ll hear the original voices from the original game. This is great if you are a long-time fan of the game, as many think the new voice acting is subpar.
If you’ve never experienced the original voice acting, then this is the perfect way to do so! The change in voices doesn’t take away anything from the existing content and who knows, you may even like it better as well.
5Reduce Human Unit Population Cost
Whenever you make a person in Age of Mythology, they cost a certain amount of population slots. Average villagers just take up one, while some units can occupy several. For example, if a unit type takes up two slots, then making just five of them will fill ten slots. This is opposed to villagers, which would take ten people to fill up the ten slots.
With this mod, human units will reduce their population cost by one, which basically means that you can make more people before running out of space. This mod does not apply to myth units though; these will have the normal population cost applied to them.
4Embellishment And Construction Builder
While Age of Mythology: Retold has unique structures, they can feel a bit sterile at times. For example, housing and market areas are pristine buildings that don’t extend from their set footprint. This isn’t always realistic, so that’s where the Embellishment And Construction Builder mod comes in.
This mod gives you the ability to train a new builder that can add embellishments to your civilization. Some of these embellishment options include flowers, tents, pathways, market stalls, and even fountains to make your settlement feel more alive.
3Visual Armor Upgrades
Next, we have the Visual Armor Upgrades mod. For the most part, your soldiers will always look the same. If youinvest in a new upgrade for their armor, this won’t change the overall look. If you are a sucker for details though, then the Visual Armor Upgrades mod is the perfect fit.
Now, your units will visually change depending on the current gear and armor they have. For example, they will appear differently between copper and bronze armor upgrades. Overall, this is great if you want your army to look great while being powerful.
2Stronger Campaign Heroes
Hero units are supposed to be strong and powerful, but at times, they may not feel like it. With the Stronger Campaign Heroes mod though, you can have powerful heroes worthy of the title.
This will buff their HP (as well as HP regeneration), speed, and damage. Additionally, this is applied to all units with the hero title. If you want your heroes to stand outamong the rest of your army, then this is a great mod to download.
1Bottom Left Resources
Last but not least, we have the Bottom Left Resources mod. This is another mod that takes the game back to its original 2002 version. Rather than displaying your resources at the top of the screen, they will all be on the bottom left-hand side of the screen.
While this isn’t the most drastic change, it’s great if you are making a unit and need to quickly check how many supplies you have. Overall, this is great for those looking for that original Age of Mythology experience without anything too game-changing.
