Even if you’re playingCore Keeperby your lonesome, there are plenty of furry, feathery, and slimy friends you can bring along in your adventures to keep you company. Some pets will fight with you, dealing damage and inflicting debuffs, while others will root for you from a distance, granting passive buffs.

Which pet is best for you oftentimes comes down to your goals, aesthetic preferences, and the type of build your character is using. Thankfully, you’ve got options, and if you don’t know which pet to go for, you can check out the helpful fellows below to make a more informed decision.

You’ll need anEgg Incubatorto hatch any eggs you obtain or purchase. As your pet gains experience, they’ll gain perk points, up to a maximum of five, which can then be invested in talents, which are rolled randomly on a pet-to-pet basis.

Squishy Egg

+15% chance to grant mana on hit

A Snugglygrade, if you didn’t pick up on the name’sclever wordplay, is an abnormally large tardigrade that hates skipping out on nap time. This creature is more than just a cuddle buddy, though; it’s a spellcaster’s best friend.

If you find yourself burning through food to stay on the offensive with magic weapons, a Snugglygrade’s chance to grant mana on hit will, on average, help you burn through less. If you roll and invest in the Energy Tap talent, this pet’s chance to grant mana increases to 25 percent.

+2 to Glow

+16 burn damage on hit

This charming feline will help you see in the dark and hit enemies with flaming projectiles that inflict burn damage. If you’re having trouble finding a Curious Egg, you may buy one from the Bearded Merchant for just under 400 Ancient Coins.

There are various useful Talents you can roll when spawning an Embertail, but if you want to focus on maximizing burn damage, you’ll want to roll for Burning Anger, which adds even more damage on hit, and Flaming Treat, which gives a chance to consume a target’s burning damage instantly.

+9.3% player ranged damage

+5% player dodge chance

Normally, a moth this big would be cause for concern, but this fella seems alright. Pheromoths are too polite and demure for direct combat, but they’re happy to buff you with extra ranged damage and an increased chance to dodge enemy attacks.

There’s a small chance you’ll find a Fuzzy Egg in Large Ancient Crates or Mold Vessels, but your best bet is to open a Mold Covered Chest in a Mold Dungeon. As for Talents, this pet only rolls additional buffs, so choose what suits your build and play style best.

+12% chance to poison on hit

Enemies hit have healing reduced by 75%

+1 projectile pierce

It’s a bit hard to tell without help from the tooltip, but Fanhares are actually rodents with big, feathery ears. If that wasn’t confusing enough, they also strike enemies with poisonous projectiles that can hit multiple times and reduce a target’s healing significantly.

To find a Nimble Egg, you’ll want to either grab a shovel and dig up normal or large sized Flower Vessels or open up a Pedastal that spawned naturally in a Wood House or somewhere else. Talents to look for include Bite Wound Infection and Hypersonic Claw.

+7.6% player movement speed

+6.5% player damage

The reason why an Owlux won’t help you directly in combat is because… it’s shy. To make up for that, this beaked, feathery friend will give you an overall buff to movement speed and damage, which is helpful for any kind of character.

Finding a Lively Egg generally comes down to searching Ancient Crates and various types of Wooden Crates. Alternatively, you can scour Azeos’ Wilderness for Egg Incubators that have naturally spawned; you’ll find at least one that is guaranteed to have the egg you’re looking for.

Oozy Royal Egg

+30% damage to bosses

If you’ve ever wanted to travel with royalty, look no further than this humble blue slime wearing a golden crown. You probably won’t have any luck trying to communicate with it, but if one thing is certain, this pet has a burning hatred for bosses of any kind.

The only way to get an Oozy Royal Egg is to defeat the King Slime, an optional boss that can be fought after using a Crown Summoning Idol on a slime boss Rune. If you want to maximize boss damage, go for Talents like Asserting Dominance and Hungry Fang.

+10% chance to stun enemies on hit

+8% critical hit chance

You’ve probably heard the saying that dogs are a human’s best friend, or something like that, anyway; it’s not every day you find a loyal friend that will smack your enemies so hard there’s a chance they’ll sit there stunned for a moment.

To get your paws on a Loyal Egg, you’ll want to make like a pirate and seek out as many Digging Spots as possible, or try your luck finding a Pedestal. If you like using the Stun mechanic, look for Talents like Intimidating Presence, Predator’s Mark, and Paralyzing Fangs.
