Dungeons & Dragonsis more popular than it has ever been before, and with this, people are looking to find new and interesting actual play campaigns to watch. If you don’t have the patience to follow a several hundred episode story arc, or want to watch something with cool visuals including miniature battles, then Dimension 20 could be for you.
The brainchild of Brennan Lee Mulligan, Dimension 20 is a series of actual play campaigns of up to 20 episodes which cover a wide range of genres and feature a variety of players of varying abilities. From newbies to masters, Dimension 20 welcomes a diverse cast to the dome, a large building reminiscent of a die, where they play Dungeons & Dragons.
What Is Dimension 20?
Dimension 20 is anactual play series created by Brennan Lee Mulligan, and streamed mostly on subscription service Dropout, with some episodes available for free on YouTube. Whilemost campaigns use D&D 5e, others use lesser known systems such asKids on Bikes. Most also involve some home brew elements, but not enough that you can’t pick out the core rules.
The series has been running since 22 June 2025, and reached the 250 episode milestone with the finale of Never Stop Blowing Up.
The campaigns can be split into two main categories;Intrepid Heroes campaigns, which feature a core cast of Emily Axford, Ally Beardsley, Brian Murphy, Zac Oyama, Siobhan Thompson, and Lou Wilson, alongside Mulligan as DM, andSide Quests, which have a rotating cast of players as well as guest DMs including Aabria Lyengar and Matthew Mercer. With 23 campaigns in total, it can be difficult to know where to start. This guide is here to help.
What’s The Difference Between Intrepid Heroes Campaigns And Side Quests?
The main differences between the two campaign types are theIntrepid Heroescampaigns are16 - 20 episodes long, and all featureBrennan Lee Mulligan as DMand thesame core cast of six players, whileSide Questsare4 - 10 episodes longand feature arotating cast of players and DMs.
Episode lengths vary from just over 90 minutes to around three hours, with most between two and two and half hours long.
You can watchall of one campaign type, then the other, or mix them up. As long as you are watching the ones with multiple seasons in the order the seasons were aired, thenit really doesn’t matter if you jump around.
Is There A Specific Order I Should Watch Dimension 20 in?
Mostly, no. The main exceptions to this areIntrepid Heroes Campaigns Fantasy High and The Unsleeping City, which have three and two seasons respectively, and the side questMisfits and Magic, which has a second season about to release at the time of writing. For these, you shouldwatch the seasons in chronological orderas the stories follow on across all episodes.
There are also someSide Quests which link to the Intrepid Heroes campaigns, although not all of these require you to have watched the main campaigns.
Pirates of Leviathanis set in thesame universe as Fantasy High, andThe Sevenfollows The Seven Maidens,an adventuring party which was formed at the end of Fantasy High: Freshman Year. Lastly,The Ravening War is a prequel to A Crown of Candy.
Pirates is completely separate from the Fantasy High campaignin terms of story arc and major characters, and as such, can be watched at any point. However,The Seven will be more enjoyable to watch if you have already seen the first season of Fantasy High, Freshman Year, since this introduces all seven maidens and follows the events which led to the formation of their adventuring party.
The Ravening War is a prequel to A Crown of Candyin terms of timeline, but wasfilmed and shown afterA Crown of Candy, which mostly just references the war in passing. There is also no major character overlap, soyou can watch these two in either order.
Our Recommended Watch Order
I began withEscape To The Bloodkeep, and this was a great place to start. The adventure isshort, available to watch for free on YouTube, and the vibes perfectly capture the essence of Dimension 20.It has a diverse cast, some amazing sets and miniatures, and a storyline that shows off Mulligan’s unique DMing style.
A Dropout Subscription is around $7 / £5 a month, with discounts for purchasing a year up front, and gives you access to a range of independently made ad-free comedy shows including Game Changer, Um, Actually, and Dirty Laundry, as well as all episodes of Dimension 20, and the follow-up talk back show Adventuring Party.
Irecommend watching the Intrepid Heroes campaigns in order,as this allows you to see how the player’s skills develop as they begin to gel as a team. It’s especially enjoyable to watch Ally Beardsley, a complete newcomer to D&D, start to flourish and later thrive as they learn to play in the dome.
You can then choose todrop the side quests in,either alongside or in between Intrepid Heroes adventures. Iwatched these in order of how interesting they sounded. Mostly between Intrepid Heroes series, but with more intense campaigns like A Crown of Candy, I watched The Seven at the same time as I wasn’t always in the mood for the tragedy of CoC.
If you want even more ofa brain break, through the darker episodesof Dimension 20, and have Dropout, thenwatch Game Changer on the side.
All Intrepid Heroes Campaigns In Release Order
If you want towatch the Intrepid Heroes campaignsin theorder they were released, then you’ll find thatFantasy High and The Unsleeping City have gapsbetween their seasons. As such, you may wish to watch all three seasons of Fantasy High before moving on to watch both seasons of The Unsleeping City and then continue to A Crown of Candy.
However, you will noticea significant skill jump between the second and third Fantasy High seasons, since they were filmed five years apart.
Alternatively, if you aren’t concerned about seeing the player’s confidence levels increase more naturally, choose the setting which appeals to you mostand then mix it all up. Here’s a full list of all the Intrepid Heroes Campaigns, in order of release.

Never Stop Making Magic - Homebrew System based on Never Stop Blowing Up And Kids on Brooms.
I recommendchoosing the side quests that appeal to you mostand watching them in between the longer campaigns, or alongside them.
The Extras
There are also someone-shot adventureswhich go alongside the main campaigns. We recommend watching theseafter the main campaignsthey link to, since there are jokes which reference the main campaign storylines, and you’llenjoy them more with the background knowledge. These one-shots are:
Misfits And Magic
Dimension 20 - Intrepid Heroes
Most campaigns have anepisode of Adventuring Party for each episode. This is when the cast has a short post-mortem discussion after each episode break, which is filmed and broadcast separately. These are best watched after the corresponding episodes and vary in length.
Recent series haveepisodes of around 20-35 minutes or so,although A Crown of Candy, Pirates of Leviathan, The Unsleeping City: Chapter Two, and Mice & Murder have episodes two to three times as long.
Content Warnings
Most campaigns are lighthearted, butsome do get very intense in placeespecially A Crown of Candy, and its prequel, as well as the horror-themed campaigns.
Dropout is an uncensored platform aimed at adults. The content warnings are descriptive enough to enable you to make a choice about the content you watch and to adjust if necessary.
Every single episode of each campaign has a full content warning, including timings, in thevideo description. You’ll find warnings for many things including:
These warnings can help you easily avoid any triggering topics in the campaigns so you may enjoy your time in these fantasy worlds.
