Summary
So, you’ve beat the main story ofWorld of Warcraft: The War Within. You’ve ventured to the bottom of Khaz Algar, fought countless enemies, and unlocked the secrets that dwell deep within the heart of Azeroth. It’s been quite a journey. But…what comes next? Don’t worry, we have you covered.
When the main story finishes, the amount of things on offer can be overwhelming. A whole expansion is now open to you, and it can be hard to choose. Luckily, there are some fun things to do right away. These are some of the best things to do after finishing The War Within.
10Set Up Flight Paths
Soar Through The Skies
If you haven’t already, now is a great time to go set up all the flight paths in Khaz Algar. All flight paths are unlocked for all characters, so just pop in to speak to the flight master and unlock them. While Khaz Algar has Skyriding enabled, sometimes a player might just want to use the good old-fashioned flight master while they grab a snack or wrangle a kid.
Many of these paths will be unlocked via the main story, but grab those last few stragglers just to make things easier for yourself in the future. You’ll thank us eventually.
9Grab Flight Glyphs
Gotta Collect ‘Em All
During the main story, Players may have noticed (and even grabbed) some of the floating Glyphs scattered throughout Khaz Algar. These Glyphs are hidden items that can be flown through to grab. Unlike in Dragonflight, there is no benefit in collecting all of the Glyphs—that is, it won’t unlock more flight abilities. However, it will unlock a new mount!
The Swarmite Skyhunterwill be added to the account of everyone who grabs all the Glyphs. Besides that, collecting all the Glyphs will result in five unlocked achievements - and everyone likes earning achievements, right?
8Unlock Some Achievements
Spiders, And Cats, And Graves, Oh My
For as seriously as players take it, World of Warcraft is kind of a silly place. There are tons of silly little easter eggs and achievements that take almost no time to unlock but are very fun to do. The War Within has plenty of these.
The Itsy Bitsy Spider achievement requires players to wave at a number of Weave Rats scattered throughout Azj-Kahet. Another, The Missing Lynx, is an achievement that has players pet all the warlynx in Hallowfall. A more serious one, Rocked to Sleep, asks players to read the plaques of some Earthen in final shutdown. Not every achievement in Warcraft is hard to get, and these are just some of the quick and fun little achievements dedicated to exploration.
7Hunt Special Encounters
Seek Out The Strange
Some of the beasts you find roaming Khaz Algar might be a little more dangerous than others. These elite creatures, marked by special tokens on the map, are Special Encounters. They reward more loot upon killing them, and some even drop reputation with the different factions. Furthermore, if you kill enough of these Special Encounters in the different zones, you can unlock achievements. Who doesn’t like achievements?
These encounters are pretty easy to find - just roam around the world looking for the tokens on the map - and they are pretty easy to kill once a character is at max level.
6Prep For End Game Content
You Are Not Prepared
For players who want to do end game content, there’s no better time to prepare for raids and Mythic+ than…in the end game. Raids and Mythic+ are open to every player, of course, but the more difficult versions take some preparation. Players will need proper gear, harvested from Heroicdungeons, and they’ll need supplies to upgrade that gear. And then there are all the enchantments and flasks and buff that are needed to play optimally…the end game is the only place players would have TIME to prepare.
End game content is absolutely not mandatory, and there are many happy players who haven’t set foot in more difficult content. But for those who enjoy it, finishing the main story is a sign to start getting prepared.
5Max Out Professions
Money Money, Must Be Funny, In A Rich Rogue’s World
Professions are basically a game within themselves. Anyone who has played the merciless game of the Auction House knows that having the right Professions means everything in the gold-making business. Finishing the main story is the perfect moment to start grinding out the new recipes required to boost experience.
The War Within introduced a ton of new things to make, so everyone will be pretty busy. From new exploding ore to new tinctures and potions, The War Within professions has something for everyone. Go make something of yourselves and get a job inside World of Warcraft - your gold will thank you.
4Level An Alt
Just Start Over
Okay maybe it’s a little silly to suggest leveling a new character when you’ve JUST finished with the old one. But The War Within has made leveling alts a breeze. A new experience bonus will be added for every max-level character. For example, one character nets a 5 percent bonus while two characters net a ten percent bonus, and so on.
Every alt leveled makes the next alt level even faster, which means more options for playing. If you’re at all curious about how a class plays in The War Within, try it out for yourself with this new leveling system.
3Try Out Delves
Delve Into Delves
Delveswere introduced in The War Within, and they quickly became a praised part of the expansion. Delves are brief adventures that can be undertaken solo or with a handful of friends. They have scaling difficulty for all kinds of adventurers and completing some every week rewarded vault equipment.
Delves are an excellent addition to the game and work especially well for solo players. While Delves are available from the start of The War Within, some will be easier at max level. Take a detour to check some of these out, and be prepared to delve into a world of fun.
2Unlock All Side Stories
Reading Is Fun
There’s more story in The War Within than just in the main story. Within these realms, there are tons of side stories, such as the story of a caretaker who is ready to move on, a mysterious group of druids deep in enemy territory, the power of corrupted faith, a therapist trying his best, and a particularly interesting Nerubian wedding night.
These stories can be found all over the various zones, and completing them will earn several achievements. These are some of the best side stories Warcraft has ever had, so take the time to find them all. They are well worth it.
1Have Fun!
Play How You Want
Ultimately, how you want to play the game is perfect for you. If you just want to run around picking flowers or desire nothing more than to crush your foes in PVP, The War Within has something for you. Khaz Algar is a wonderful place to just hang out with friends, and there’s no pressure to get things done the ‘correct’ way.
Don’t let a feeling of FOMO distract from the simple pleasure of having fun in World of Warcraft. Find something you think you’d love to do, and then kick back, relax, and have a blast while doing it.
