Psychic-types are some of the best inPokemon TCGPocket. Most of them are only weak to Dark-type Pokemon, and with very few of them posing a threat, their Weakness will mostly remain unexploited when going up against the toughest decks.
The Psychic-types also have some of the best Abilities in the game, with some Pokemon being able to double your Energy gains each turn, as well as others that will stop your opponent from playing their most powerful cards. So if you want to be a master trainer, here are the best Psychic Pokemon cards available in Pokemon TCG Pocket.
7Swoobat
A Fast Flier
Swoobat will fly right in, strike your opponent, and get out of there. While Swoobat is far from the best Psychic Pokemon card, it is definitely not the worst. It has an easy setup as a Stage one Pokemon, as well as a low retreat cost, allowing it to dodge fatal hits and switch out into a much stronger Pokemon.
While this isone of the more underrated Psychic Pokemon, it’s nice to know that it can put up a fight if you need it to. With 60 damage, it can easily clear any weak Basic Pokemon that gets too close to the Active Spot.
6Hypno
Go To Sleep
Hypno is a card that is carried solely by its Ability. For three Energy, it does 50 damage with Psypunch, which is the only Move it has. It also has 100 HP. This isn’t a Pokemon that you want out there fighting for you but on the Bench lending support.
Sleep Pendulumallows you to flip a coin. If you land on heads, your opponent’s Active Pokemon goes to Sleep. This is a great Ability that can prevent your opponent’s Pokemon from getting anything done the next turn. If this was not a coin flip ability, it would be much better. However, it is what it is.
Gengar
Bother Your Opponent
Gengar is a Stage two Pokemon with 130 HP and an inexpensive Move called Bother. This Move only costs one Energy but also doesn’t hit as hard as you would like, with only 50 damage. What does make this Move useful, though, is that once you hit one of your opponent’s Pokemon with it, they won’t be able to use Supporters during their next turn.
This is a great way of forcing your opponent to rely on their Pokemon before they can use their other cards. This is especially good for halting any missing pieces they need to Evolve their lines or mess with your field. The one downside is that this effect is on a Move, which another Pokemon does better by having it as an Ability.
5Golurk
A Chance For A Quick Knockout
Golurk is a Stage one Pokemon with 140 health and one devastating Move. For four Energy, this card has the potential to dish out 200 damage. All you need to do is flip two coins and have them both land on heads.
Even if you only land on one coin, that is still 100 damage, which will clear many Basic or Stage one Pokemon. In the best case scenario where you land both coins, that’s an instant knockout that can put you ahead in points or even take the game. This is one of the most powerful coin flip effects in the game.
4Alakazam
A Strong Non-Ex Pokemon
If you’re looking to build a deck that doesn’t let your opponent score easy points, then Alakazam might just be the hitter you’re looking for. With a decent 130 HP and a Move that scales with how much Energy your opponent’s Pokemon have, it can do pretty decent damage against high Energy matchups.
Psychic does 60 damage with an additional 30 for each Energy on your opponent’s Active Pokemon. So if your opponent has a Move they’re trying to build up Energy toward, then Alakazam can punish them for taking too long to set up. This can earn you many one-hit knockouts against even the strongest Pokemon ex.
3Gengar Ex
Stun Your Opponent
Gengar ex is a complete upgradefrom the standard Gengar. While having it get knocked out will earn your opponent two points, the risk is worth it for its Shadowy Spellbind Ability. Rather than be attached to a Move, this Ability is always active as long as Gengar ex is on your Active Spot. So your opponent can say goodbye to any Supporters helping them out.
Spooky Shot also does a modest 100 damage, which can knock out most Pokemon in two hits. With 170 HP, this Pokemon is also capable of taking a few hits, making it one of the best all-around Psychic Pokemon cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket.
2Gardevoir
Easy Energy Acceleration
Pokemon Abilities you can use on the Bench are worth more than those that are locked to the Active Spot. Gardevoir has one of the bestAbilities that can accelerate the Energy you can gainfor Psychic decks all around.
Psy Shadow allows you to take an extra Psychic Energy from your Energy Zone and attach it to a Psychic Pokemon in your Active Spot. This means you get double Energy each turn to fuel up your most powerful Moves. You can use this to go all in with your Active Pokemon or split the Energy by giving the standard Energy of the turn to your Benched Pokemon and the one produced by this Ability to your Active.
1Mewtwo Ex
Massive Strikes Each Turn
With 150 HP and two Moves, there are few Pokemon as versatile as Mewtwo ex. Psydrive may cost four Energy and discard two when used, but 150 damage is nothing to laugh at. In a mirror match, this can be enough to knock out your opponent’s Mewtwo if you manage to complete your setup first.
While two Energy may take two turns to recuperate, you can have this ready on the very next turn with Gardevoir supporting it on the Bench. This means it has the capability of hitting for 150 every single turn. That’s the kind of power you want to keep your opponent at bay.
