Eternal War is the PvP mode inWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, and it is just as much of a blast as the PvE modes. However, there is definitely a learning curve for fighting other players versus the enemy AI in story and operations mode.
This learning curve, while intimidating, is helped in a large part by your choice of weapon. You may be familiar with many of the weapons from your time in PvE, but your choice of weapon is paramount in PvP, as the opposing players won’t go down as easily as a Tyranid that you catch out of midair.
Keep in mind that Eternal War has a completely different progression system than the PvE side of things. In PvE you have access to every weapon right away, while in PvP you will need to unlock some of the weapons by leveling up the requisite class.
7Thunder Hammer
Just like in PvE, the Thunder Hammer from the Assault class is a pretty great weapon. While the other melee options like the combat knife and chainsword are faster, the Thunder Hammer has slow, but wide, swings that make it easy to catch enemies in its wake.
It is also just incredibly fun to use, as one of the more iconic weapons of the Space Marine’s armory. With the power of the Thunder Hammer, some newer players might feel a bit overwhelmed and not sure how to combat it, but even at higher levels, it’s damage and sweeping attacks make for an effective melee weapon on theAssault.
6Bolt Rifle
The first weapon you have access to for the Tactical class, the bolt rifle, is the epitome of a tried-and-true weapon. It’s not anything flashy, but it gets the job done.
There are other weapons that perform similarly, albeit better, but this is perfect as your introductory weapon to the mode. It has a solid rate of fire, reasonable recoil, and serviceable damage. Even once you’re max level in Eternal War, the bolt rifle will be something you can rely on.
5Instigator Bolt Carbine
The Instigator Bolt Carbine is like the Bolt Rifle, but improved in every way. One of the problems with getting used to a lot of the bolt weapons in PvP is the recoil and spread, but the Instigator is a three-round burst, which makes controlling your aim much easier.
With the three-round burst, you get a controlled rate of fire able to output consistent and high damage. You also get a scope, which allows for even more precise aiming. If you want a traditional bolter weapon, you’re able to’t get much better than the Instigator.
4Heavy Plasma Incinerator
This is one of those weapons that takes some practice to use effectively, but if you put in the work the results will be noticeable. The Heavy Plasma deals…well, heavy damage to enemies.
The struggle comes from having to lob and aim your shots correctly, as it basically works like a grenade launcher with fall-off, so you need to account for that when aiming and firing. But if you manage to land your shots, you will do strong splash damage to unsuspecting enemies.
3Plasma Incinerator
The Plasma Incinerator is great for all the same reasons that the heavy variation is, plus the benefit of working more like a traditional weapon.
You don’t need to worry about tracking your shots, as the Plasma Incinerator fires right where you aim. With this, you have a faster rate of fire and more consistent damage, making for an excellent choice of weapon.
2Las Fusil
The Las Fusil is an incredible weapon in PvE, and it’s pretty darn good in PvP too. It takes some getting used to, as the enemy players in PvP won’t stand still and give you time to charge like some of the enemies in PvE.
Despite that, once you get used to the charge-up and lining up your shots, you find yourself with a fantastic long-range option. Sniping off enemies from afar is a really effective strategy in PvP, since being close-range is basically a question of whose weapons can fire the fastest or who can get their grenade off quicker.
1Bolt Carbine
The Bolt Carbine is incredibly strong, and an example of how weapons can have such different results in PvP versus PvE. In PvE, the Bolt Carbine isn’t much to write home about, while in PvP the high rate of fire makes for large amounts of damage at a very fast rate.
The weapon also works perfectly with theSniper’s camo ability. Rather than cloak yourself from far away, you can cloak yourself to get right up into the enemy player’s faces and unload the Carbine, and they really won’t have much of a choice but to take it and die.
