The Fateanimeseries consists of Holy Grail Wars fought for the pursuit of an ultimate wish-granting device. To aid Mages in this pursuit, heroic spirits called servants are summoned based on legends that have existed in the past. There are few battles as straightforward as a direct brawl, but the strength of a servant is a deciding factor in who walks away with this omnipotent Grail.

Featuring some of the strongest servants out of any Fate series, such as Iskander, Saber, and Gilgamesh, as well as some oddly powerful hindrances to these three Kings, you may want to know who’s the strongest servant in Fate/Zero. Here’s every single servant, ranked purely on their own strength!

7Assassin

Hassan Of A Hundred Faces

The only Assassin class servants capable of being summoned in the Fuyuki wars are the 19 carriers of the Persian title of Old Man of The Mountain, or Hassan-i Sabbath. Among these, Hassan of the Hundred Faces is the 19th and last carrier of the name. Like other Assassins, Hundred Faces Hassan specializes in sneaking around and gathering intel, rather than direct combat.

However, while the other Assassin class servants have ways of dealing damage, such as Cursed Hand Hassan’s Zabanya rupturing his target’s heart, Hundred Faces Hassan has no such ability. Instead, Assassin can divide himself into 100 different bodies, making the servant the best at information gathering, but worst everywhere else.

6Lancer

Diarmuid

Lancers belong to The Three Knight Classes. As such, they’re usually one of the strongest melee combatants during the Holy Grail War, along with the Saber and Archer. However, despite him being able to keep up with Saber, Diarmuid is among the weakest Lancers we’ve seen in Fate. Even if he’s not very powerful, he more than makes up for it with his high battle IQ and cunning, as well as the potential of his Noble Phantasms.

The long red spear, Gae Dearg, is one capable of overwhelming all magical constructs. This gives Lancer a huge advantage over opponents stronger than him, as seen by him negating Saber’s magical armor and being able to completely nullify Berserker’s Noble Phantasm. He also has a shorter yellow spear with the name Gae Buidhe, a weapon that curses whoever it injures to never recover from said wound.

5Berserker

Lancelot

Berserker’s main Noble Phantasm, Knight of Owner, can turn anything he touches into a personalized Noble Phantasm. This is restricted to anything that could be considered a weapon. In Fate/Zero, we saw him use modern machinery such as guns, missiles, and even a fighter jet as his weapons.

While less interesting than other special abilities, this straightforward skill lets Berserker keep up with Gilgamesh’s Gate of Babylon by grabbing the weapons he shot out, turning them into his weapons, and reflecting the incoming barrage. Furthermore, even though the Mad Enhancement skill usually makes the user lose dexterity and battle prowess, Lancelot can move instinctively, almost completely negating the drawback.

4Caster

Gilles De Rais

During his life, Gilles De Raise was completely infatuated with Jean d’Arc, so much so that he became a devout worshiper of God, believing Jean to be a miracle of divine origin. He aided her in numerous wars during the Crusades, both monetarily and as a knight; however, when Jean was eventually executed for heresy, he started doubting the existence of God.

Gilles De Raise started committing heinous crimes: kidnapping, murdering, and abusing children, all so God could prove his existence by punishing him, and he could justify all the lives he took in God’s name. However, this judgment never came, and so this maniacal Caster exists.

While considered among the weakest of Casters in terms of actual combat prowess, his Noble Phantasm, Prelati’s Spellbook, allows him to instantly replenish all mana he expends. This lets him create an infinite supply of monsters, becoming a threat strong enough that even Saber, Lancer, and Rider cannot deal with easily.

3Saber

Artoria Pendragon

Based on King Arthur, Artoria is a king among kings. Completely infallible, devoid of any imperfections. She was a selfless king who wished only for the best of her people. However, it was this supreme, inhumanely compassionate character of hers that led to her people alienating her, eventually leading to her being betrayed and killed.

The Saber class is said to be the strongest among the seven main classes. Among the various heroes capable of being summoned in said class, Artoria is the strongest. She’s unbeatable as a swordsman and a knight and is made even scarier by her ability to hide the length and nature of her sword. Not only that, but she also has the legendary sword Excalibur, capable of destroying hordes of enemies effortlessly with a single swing.

2Rider

Iskander

The Servant Rider is based on Alexander the Great, the King of Conquerers; during his lifetime, he created the largest rule to date, setting himself in history as one of the greatest kings to ever have existed. He wished to dominate the entire world and to see the end of it, but his life left him before he could do so, and his kingdom fell to ruin almost immediately after he departed from this world. As a servant, Iskander was just as remarkable as his living self, and even though the Rider class is usually too weak to hold its own against the Three Knight Classes in direct combat, Iskander had no trouble fighting Saber, even earning Gilgamesh’s complete respect.

His chariot, Gordius Wheel, lets him use the Noble Phantasm called Via Expugnatio, ramming into the enemy with sparks of lightning. However, that’s only a spec of Iskander’s true power. Iskander’s true Noble Phantasm is Ionioi Hetairoi, a Reality Marble that lets him summon the tens of thousands of heroic spirits that served under him in his life. This is Iskander’s trump card and is said to potentially be as strong as Gilgamesh’s Gate of Babylon.

1Archer

Gilgamesh

The King of Heroes’s Noble Phantasm is called Gate of Babylon, the single strongest Noble Phantasm of any servant in Fate. It allows Gilgamesh to summon and rain down an infinite supply of weapons from his treasury on his enemies. These weapons include Noble Phantasms belonging to other heroic spirits.

While he normally uses the weapons as mere projectiles to be sent out, he can still use the Phantasms to their fullest potential, as seen by him using Enkidu to hold down Heracles in Fate/Stay Night. If you piss him off, Gilgamesh has access to Enuma Eilish (EA), a Noble Phantasm capable of erasing reality itself, with no way to defend against it.
