The Sniper is one ofWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’ssix playable classes for core multiplayer. A Sniper Marine is adept at eliminating high-value targets while remaining safe with theirCamo Cloakability. They strike from the shadows and retreat in an instant, giving them a hit-and-run playstyle.

Playing the Sniper effectively can be a challenge, especially while you’re leveling the class in PvE Operations. But once you get past the leveling stage, you’ll morph the Sniper into the strongest single-target DPS class in Space Marine 2. Bosses and armored units won’t dare to challenge you or your fellow Astartes.

How To Play Sniper

A Sniper is along-range DPS classwho strikes from the shadows. You technically have two ways of playing this character:

We find the first playstyle, sniping, to be where the Sniper class shines. You’ll be using theLas Fusilto obliterate the enemies of the Imperium from safety. Your signature ability,Camo Cloak, makes you virtually invisible to enemy forces. Use this to reposition or get closer to your enemies. It even buffs your character’s damage output with certain perks (PvE only).

The Sniper is a late-bloomer when it comes to their perk tree. Things don’t get interesting untilTargeted Shotat Level 15. This gives you a drastic75% damage boostto your next shot while invisible. Line up a headshot with your sniper rifle, and you can down mostMajoris and Extremis-class enemiesin a single shot.

You can even act as a discount Heavy with theLethal Efficiency perk, which refunds a Las Fusil round if you get a multikill with the weapon. Since it’s a beam weapon with infinite pierce, that’s surprisingly easy to do. Throw onSquad Renewalto give your entire team ability energy foreveryprecision kill you land. Bulwarks can spam banners. Heavy has constant uptime onIron Halo. Tacticals can spamAuspex Scans. It’s an S-tier team perk, albeit a late-game unlock.

Melee

You’re stuck with theBolt PistolandCombat Knifewith the Sniper class, but at least both are good weapons. The Bolt Pistol should serve as your workhorse firearm againstHormagauntsandTzaangors. A single headshot will pop a Tyranid’s skull, and a few shots will eliminate a Chaos lesser daemon. The Combat Knife should be reserved for parrying and quick add clear.

The real star of the show here is theLaser Fusil. It outshines the Bolt Sniper Rifle and Stalker Bolt Rifle in every possible way. This gun deals immense precision damage, bringing Majoris-class enemies to critical HP with just two headshots. You do need to charge each shot, but you can accelerate the process with weapon perks.

There’s also a case to be made for theBolt Carbine, a CQC-focused primary that’s best used for killing Majoris-class units. It’s not quite as powerful as the Las Fusil since it can’t leverage your cloak perks as well, but it’s a solid choice if you want to fight in close quarters.

Class Perks

This is the ultimate long-range sniping build for PvE Operations. You’ll want to use theLaser Fusilas your primary weapon. We prefer the variant with a larger ammo capacity, but the one with maximum damage works just as well. You’ll want to spec the gun forammo capacity and charge time perks. Both effects will drastically improve the consistency of your sniper.

Adamant Restoration Bug

TheAdamant Restorationperk gives you infinite ammo if you’re under 30% HP. Simply swap between your secondary and primary multiple times to fully restore your reserves.

This is a bug that will get patched in a future update.

As for perks, you needTargeted ShotandLingering Concealment.Going invisible will grant a massive 75% damage buff to your next shot, leaving most enemies at critical HP if you land a headshot. Lingering Concealment will keep you invisible for two seconds once you shoot the Las Fusil, giving you a moment to reposition or get another shot off. You can then runRenewalwithSquad Renewalto effectively remove your cloak’s ability cooldown.

Finally, we use themax damage Bolt Pistol and fencing Combat Knifeto round out the build. The Bolt Pistol is meant for Minoris-tier units, while the Combat Knife is primarily used for parrying targets. Any knife with the “fencing” property will have the most forgiving parry timings.
