Sorceries are one of the ways to deal ranged magical damage inDark Souls, along with miracles and pyromancy. The game offers lots of different spells, along with upgraded versions of them as you progress throughout the game.
These spells can range from utility spells, buffs to your weapons, and offensive damage spells. No matter your playstyle, if you enjoy slinging spells, this list will have something for you.
7Repair
This spell requires 14 intelligence to cast, which is quite a low barrier of entry, especially for a sorcerer starting class. This spell will allow you to repair any weapon without having to visit a bonfire or blacksmith and pay souls.
In Dark Souls, many weapons have unique moves that end up using durability instead of a magic meter like inDark Souls 3orElden Ring. Because of this, it is very useful to be able to repair your weapons as often as you need to, as those unique moves will drain the durability fairly quickly.
6Remedy
Remedy is an incredibly useful utility spell. Requiring 16 intelligence, this spell will cure or stop any build-up of bleed, poison, or toxic. This means you can either use it preemptively or once you have gotten the status.
This is very useful because the items that have this same effect are harder to come across than in some of the other games. In areas like Blighttown, which has an abundance of toxin and poison, or the Painted World, which has enemies that (rather annoyingly) cause massive bleed effects when they die, this spell is quite literally a lifesaver. Even if you don’t use magic, it may be worth spending some levels on Intelligence just to use it.
5Strong Magic Shield
A utility spell, this sorcery lets you reinforce your shield with a magical buff. While this might not seem great if you use a good shield like the Black Knight shield, this is very useful for sorcerers who might not have as much strength or dexterity to wield larger shields. This spell requires 15 intelligence.
By using this spell on your shield, you may gain the same damage resistance as some of the better shields in the game, without having to meet the requirements of using them. For a magic-based character that may not have many levels in strength or dexterity, this is a great way to improve your shortcomings.
4Crystal Magic Weapon
The crystal line of spells is the highest tier of sorceries in the game. The Crystal Magic Weapon spell is similar to the Strong Magic Shield, in that it buffs a weapon of your choice. This spell requires 25 intelligence.
Using this, you can buff up your right-handed weapon (as long as it doesn’t have another damage type part of it already) with a magical coating that increases your damage, scaling with intelligence. This is a great spell on its own, but if you combine it with Strong Magic Shield, you become a magic user that’s just as effective as a traditional weapon-focused build.
3Homing Crystal Soulmass
This is a unique spell, in that it is both offensive and defensive. Homing Soul Mass is a spell that allows you to put up an array of Soulmasses above your head that will home in on enemies, and the Crystal variety is even stronger. This spell requires 24 intelligence.
This is perfect for a melee-focused spellcaster, who will find themselves close enough to enemies to trigger the spell, and they won’t be able to easily dodge the spell up close. This can easily overwhelm and take down most targets in the game, be they enemies or even human invaders.
2Crystal Soul Spear
Soul Spear is a high-damaging single-target sorcery, and, expectedly, Crystal Soul Spear is the best version. This spell requires 44 intelligence.
This is a simple spell that does what it says on the tin. You fire a high-damage spear of souls at enemies, dealing massive damage to both enemies and bosses alike. If the main way you like to do damage is slinging spells from afar without getting close, you will find few greater options than the Crystal Soul Spear or even just the normal Soul Spear.
1Dark Bead
In the Artorias of the Abyss DLC, we got access to the dark set of spells, such as Dark Orb and Pursuers, and the best of the bunch is Dark Bead. This spell requires 16 intelligence.
Dark Bead fires off multiple of its lesser spell, Dark Orb, in a horizontal arc. This is an extremely high-damaging spell that fires incredibly fast and therefore outputs insane damage in a wide area. Each orb fired does great damage, so if you are close to a large boss and manage to hit all seven of the orbs, their health bar will melt, and you will feel superior to your greatsword-swinging peers. Show them the true power of sorcery.
