10Hayase Yuuka

The Protective Mathematician

Calling the affection that Yuuka has for math ‘love’ is an understatement. One of her greatest joys is figuring out your monthly budget for food, a natural fit since she’s also in charge of the entirety of Abydos’ budget. If she had to choose, she’d rather work on the school’s towering debt over being in the field, but some things can’t be helped.

Yuuka is a well-rounded combatant who has decent firepower, and good defensive skills with Q.E.D., which adds a dash of healing to whoever is inside the shield. As talented as she is, a lot of her skills become quickly overshadowed by others who have a complete focus on defending or attacking.

The Problem Solver’s Problem Solver

The head of Gehenna Academy’sDelinquent Mercenaries group, collectively known as Problem Solver 68, Kayako often gets a bad rap for having a naturally occurring mean mug on her face. People see her face and want to throw their hands on sight, leading her to unfairly be considered a delinquent. She doesn’t let that get her down though, happily dressing in a kimono when asked by her club members.

Just because she’s dressed for the holiday fun doesn’t mean she’s not ready to protect her friends at a moment’s notice! All the moves in her skill set serve to support the members of her team. Even in battle, you can see that she is devoted to protecting her team with skills such as:

Kiryuu Kikyou in her school uniform, with a robe over the outfit

This focus on support is a far cry from her default mode, which is attack-focused, but it’s still a great option to consider when building your party.

8Kiryuu Kikyou

The Mastermind Of Hyakkiyako Academy

There are only two things this strategist from Hyakkiyako Academy wants: ultimate victory of any and everything, and the safety of her friends and allies. With her skills and acumen for planning at least 5 steps, she is more than capable of pulling both of these desires off without a hitch.

While she can raise the attack power of her allies, her true strength lies in her Basic and EX Skills:

Her sub-skill, Furin Kazan Strategy, has dual usage. It increases the attack of the intended target but also builds up a stack of Furin Kazan. Collecting all three decreases the cost of the EX skill for any character in her party who isn’t Kikyou.

7Misono Mika

Complexity Hidden Behind A Smile

A former member of the Tea Party, and the governing member of Trinity General School. She appears as a bubbly, fun girl. However, beneath the surface lies contradictory emotions, and a surprising darkness that makes you question what it means to stagger between the lines of good and evil. Her story has amazing depththat would do you a disservice to spoil.

The best thing about Mika is that she packs the power to propel her convictions. Kyrie Eleison, Mika’s Ex skill, can one-shot bosses with the right build. The more HP the target has, the more damage dealt, equaling up to 1,540 percent of your total damage.

Kasuga Tsubaki’s in game sprite on the left, and her Guide outfit on the right.

Sleep Is For The Strong

Not even flying bullets could keep Tsubaki awake! A singular motive drives the resolve behind her strength and all the training she endures: to get more sleep. She prides herself on the ability to fall asleep in any place, maybe even behind her riot shield if the opportunity presents itself.

As a tank, her kit is tailored to defend against the onslaught of enemies that attack you. Fortitude and expert reload, Tsubaki’s Enhanced skill and Sub-skill respectively, boost defense by a total of 38 percent. Her Ex skill, Deploy Tactical Shield, also boosts defense, but it gets extra petty by taunting all enemies inside her circular radius.

Renkawa Cherino and her mustache in various art styles, with her in game sprite on the right

5Renkawa Cherino

The Mighty Mustachioed Menace

Cherino understands that symbols mean true power. All who gaze upon her mustache immediately fall in line and hang on her every word. At least, that’s what she’d like to believe. In truth, every time she comes into power, it’s never long before she’s overthrown. Still, her tenacity continues to see her fighting for her position.

All of her mustache-based passive skills give her Red Winter party members a huge advantage by boosting their attacks and increasing how fast they replenish their ability to use their skills, leaving her basic and EX skills doing the heavy damage.

Takanashi Hoshino in her event swimsuit, holding a dolphin on the right, her chibi sprite on the left.

4Takanashi Hoshino (Swimsuit)

Why Work Hard When You Can Take It Easy?

If you have a whole council to do work for you, why do it yourself? Hoshino is all about being lazy during downtime, even at the expense of the rest of the council. Try as they might, the council isn’t going to talk her out of taking a nap in the office anytime soon. Luckily, you can still count on her to have your back when it’s time to fight.

Hoshino’s summer version comes with not only the now, run-of-the-mill attack and defense boost you’ve seen this far, but her Ex skill comes with a boost strictly for explosions. On the other hand, her basic skill attacks the enemy with a powerful explosion and converts a percentage of the damage output to healing for Hoshino.

Kurodate Haruna wearing her new year’s kimono, her in game sprite is standing on fried shrimp.

3Kurodate Haruna (New Year)

Nothing Hits Better Than A New Year’s Feast

At first glance, Haruna is the pinnacle of grace and elegance, especially when it comes to fine dining. Everything has to be perfect to bring out the best of a meal, and if one thing is out of place, the whole meal is ruined. You don’t want to know what she will do if you ruin the meal for her, do you?

Enemies on the field will face the brunt of the consequences! Gourmet’s Wrath targets up to five different enemies and deals damage to both the intended target and anyone unlucky enough to be inside the radius of the attacks. If you combine any of her attacks with Farewell Dessert, her sub-skill, of course, and any attack that lands has a chance of lowering your enemies’ defense.

Shiromi Iori standing on the desk in the background, in her sprite version and her in game story version.

2Shiromi Iori

She Is The Iron Fist Of Punishment

If you have ever heard the phrase “rule with an iron fist”, you know thatsheis the fist of retribution if you fall out of line at Gehenna Academy. Iori’s favorite pastime is handing down the punishment, so imagine the sheer fun she feels when she is tasked to go shoot some of the enemies of Gehenna who dare to cross the school.

She enjoys dolling out punishment so much, that she gets a boost of power when she chooses to face enemies head-on instead of hiding behind cover. How badass is that? Her Ex skill fires three shots at enemies in a cone-shaped AOE attack. She is relentless in the amount of pain she’s willing to cause.

Shirasu Azusa in her swimsuit on the beach. In game sprite on the left, sitting on luggage on the right

1Shirasu Azusa (Swimsuit)

Even Ice Witches Need A Break

Azusa prefers to keep her distance between herself and anyone who would consider her a friend. Not because she doesn’t like them, but because she has been extremely hard on herself, not believing in her strength until someone she cared about needed her help. When her back is against the corner, that’s when her true strength shines through. This version of her is taking a long-deserved vacation.

Azusa’s affinity with ice shines in this skill set, with her EX skill, biting water, deals significant damage upon contact, while causing chill damage over time for 20 seconds. Even when relaxing, she can conjure up her abilities faster than you can say air-conditioning.
