The backbone of any good team is their support. InDeadlock, the third-person MOBA developed by Valve Software, support can make or break the outcome of every match. The role of the support class is to assist their team in any way they can.
For some, that means healing, and for others, it means buffing your teammates and bolstering their own abilities. Heroes can be built in different ways usingitems from the shop, meaning that any playable character can be tweaked to your liking. At base level, there are some heroes who are best equipped for this role, and the choice is yours.
5Dynamo
Healing And Quick Escapes
In Valve’s Deadlock, Dynamo is the quintessential support class. His abilities enable him to impact the flow of combat in ways both big and small. His Kinetic Pulse ability knocks enemies up into the air, where they will be momentarily vulnerable to further attacks from you and your team. For quick escapes, Quantum Entanglement will allow you to temporarily vanish and reappear a safe distance away.
This ability can also be used to take your teammates along with you, boosting their firing rate by half of yours. Finally, his Rejuvenating Aurora ability restores health for both himself and any nearby teammates, making it one of the most universally helpful functions of this character to the well-being of your team. Using this ability at the correct time can mean the difference between victory and defeat.
4Kelvin
Group Healing And Mobility
Kelvin excels in his ability to supply his teammates with anear-constant flow of health. Nearly every action he can take benefits his team in some way, from healing to advanced mobility. After a second upgrade, his Frost Grenade ability will heal teammates in addition to damaging and slowing enemies, combining offensive and defensive qualities.
The ice paths that Kelvin can create to navigate the map and bypass barriers can also be used by the rest of his team, allowing for ambushes from unexpected angles. When inside his Frozen Shelter, enemies will be slowed, and teammates will be healed, trapped inside the dome and unable to escape.
3McGinnis
Sentries And Healing
When playing as McGinnis, your tools are your best friends. Even without the aid of your team, McGinnis can deploy a portable sentry to harass enemies and deter them away from important areas. When used in conjunction with multiple other teammates, this sentry is one more roadblock enemies will have to face, and that can make all the difference during a fight.
This allows McGinnis to operate on multiple fronts, dividing her attention to the tasks needed to win. Additionally, she can deploy a Medicinal Specter, a beacon that restores the health of friendlies within the vicinity. Her Spectral Wall ability can be used to box enemies in or deny them access to contested areas, making them easy targets for either her sentry or the rest of your team.
2Viscous
Protecting Teammates and Soaking Up Damage
The best feature Viscous has in their arsenal is their ability to soak up large amounts of damage, but they also have one powerful tool that allows them to support the rest of their team. At any time, Viscous can encase either themselves or a teammate in a large, gelatinous cube that temporarily shields whoever is inside. This cube protects whoever is inside from incoming damage while also restoring their health and getting rid of any debilitating effects they might currently be experiencing.
When used tactically, this can protect teammates while they execute their own abilities. The rest of the abilities that Viscous has at their disposal are secondary to this for the purposes of supporting their team but can buy your team valuable time by slowing the enemy.
1Ivy
Chain Healing and Mobility
Ivy has a variety of tools in her arsenal, many of which synchronize well with her ability to aid her team. When locked on to targeted teammates, Ivy can connect with them for increased healing and other buffs such as increased firing rate and the lifesteal effect on the damage they deal. When upgraded, multiple teammates can be connected to the chain, spreading the benefits of the healing power even further through your team.
This is Ivy’s strongest supportive tool, with her other abilities allowing her to stop foes in their tracks by slowing and stunning them. In addition, Ivy’s Air Drop ability allows her to pick up and carry a teammate for a short distance, dropping them on foes and causing an explosion that slows enemies and gives both players shields and resistances against incoming damage after the drop. With this ability, Ivy can deliver her teammates directly where they’ll be the most useful.
