Of the many characters introduced by movies in the Dragon Ball universe, Broly has to be the most popular. He made such an impact with the fans that, eventually, he was turned into a canonical character by the original author of the show, but with a completely altered background and power level.

Broly has since made it into almost every Dragon Ball game, andDragon Ball: Sparking Zerois no exception, including both the old and new versions of the character. If you can’t get enough of this berserking monster, we’ve ranked each version and transformation so you get to know which reigns supreme.

7Broly (Z)

The Subdued Edition

The story of the original Broly was that his father kept him in check with a special headpiece that kept his power in check, not unlike the one inthe Sun Wukong legend. This makes for a great story moment, but not for the greatest fighter around.

We can all agree that the Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero roster is impressive, but we can’t pretend that people are going around picking this version of Broly over the others. He still packs a punch but is clearly the lesser of the ones with the Broly moniker.

6Broly (Z, Super Saiyan)

The First Blue Haired One

Nowadays, when we see the super saiyan form with blue hair, we think of the godlike power that Goku and Vegeta achieved in Dragon Ball Super. They weren’t the first to don the color, however, since back in the Z days, Broly showed this form during his very first movie.

The use of the color here is to show how his real power is being subdued by the headband, but it remains a highly unique look nonetheless. It is nowhere near the real appeal of playing as Broly, but at least he is far more animated than his underpowered self.

5Kale (Super Saiyan Berserk)

Female Broly

If you haven’t watched the Tournament of Power Saga, you might wonder who Kale is, but you had better believe that if you’re into the Broly vibe, you’ll love her. In short, she’s a saiyan from Universe 6 (Goku and the gang are from Universe 7) who, much like Broly, has a hidden power that turns her into a machine of destruction.

The other forms of Kale are a lot of fun, particularly her interactions and even fusion with Caulifla, but the full Broly style is unleashed in her berserk form. She’s reminiscent of the Z version of the character, unleashing a strangely sadistic mode that enjoys battle a bit too much.

4Broly (Super, Super Saiyan)

Even More Powerful Than Super Saiyan 3

The new version of Broly, seen in the movie Dragon Ball Super: Broly, is a savage creature that can’t control its temper. But deep down, he doesn’t really want to hurt anyone. His raw power is used as a tool by many, including his father, but afterthe events of the movie, he seems to be trying to control his might.

While this version of the character is as fun as all other transformations, he works more as a transition than as a state in and of itself. As such, he is outshined by the base form that came before, and the mighty monster that comes after.

3Broly (Super)

Crush Them Like Hulk

There is an animalistic appeal in the Super rendition of Broly, making him even scarier at times than the sadistic version we saw back in Z. Compared to his super saiyan form, this Broly is far more entertaining to use and watch due to his various grabs and the fact that he has pupils.

Of course, he isn’t as wild as he can get, but there is a certain level of fun to be found in working up the ladder to that anger. Although it is likely that a lot of players might pick this version of Broly, and then transform straight to his full power version.

2Broly (Z, Legendary Super Saiyan)

The Myth Realized

There is an ancient legend in saiyan culture that speaks of the Legendary Super Saiyan, a creature of absolute destruction that symbolizes the saiyan’ way of life. While Goku might be that saiyan, some movies try to argue that maybe Broly or even Bardok were the real legend instead of our earthbound hero.

The movie Dragon Ball Super: Broly retcons both movies that talk about the Legendary Super Saiyan, making them not only not canon but also impossible to have happened.

Well, this version of Broly is, at least in his movie, that very legend, not only powerful but also sadistic beyond measure, enjoying the thrill of destroying his opponents. The only flaw in his story is that he hates Goku because, when they were babies, Goku cried a lot; he’s a bit less epic when you learn that.

1Broly (Super, Super Saiyan Full Power)

A God Is Born

Something that the latest Dragon Ball movies have ceased to do is even attempt to explain how these characters achieve their powers. Gohan Beast, Orange Piccolo, and even this version of Broly are as powerful as gods, apparently because the script has deemed them so.

Still, who needs an explanation when you have one of the greatest Dragon Ball characters at your disposal, someone who, during his movie, takes part inthe best fight scenesthe series has ever seen. This is what the full power Broly is, a spectacle of violence that combines all the best parts of his previous iterations, both from Super and Z and gets to be fully realized in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero.
