Cell is one of the most iconic villains in the Dragon Ball Z series, known for his ability to absorb other beings and evolve into increasingly powerful forms. In Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, players get the chance to experience Cell’s various transformations, each offering a different playstyle and level of power.

From his imperfect beginnings to his terrifyingly powerful Perfect form, Cell’s evolution is central to his character in the series. If you want to know which version stands out more than the others, look no further, for the green man obsessed with perfection awaits you in more than one package.

5Cell (Perfect Form)

Outclassed By His Future Self

Cell’s Perfect Form is already an incredibly powerful character in Sparking Zero, boasting a well-balanced mix of melee attacks, energy blasts, and strong defensive abilities. However, while this version of Cell is dangerous in its own right, it falls short when compared to his later incarnation after regenerating during the Cell Games.

His moveset is solid, and he’s still a formidable opponent, but Perfect Cell (post-regeneration) has more versatility and power, pushing this version lower in the ranking. If you like the look and feel of this version of Cell, there is no reason to use this one over the other.

In Budokai Tenkaichi 3, this Cell used to be ableto transform into Perfect Cell, something that made a little sense; Perfect Cell is basically Cell going Super Saiyan 2, after all. But that never happened on the show, so Sparking Zero split the two characters apart, making you no longer able to pick his 1st form and climb all the way to perfection.

4Cell Jr.

Small But Deadly

Don’t let their size fool you—Cell Jr. packs a punch in Sparking Zero. These pint-sized versions of Cell retain many of their fighting abilities, with quick movements and fast, energy-based attacks taken from among the Z fighters, even using the Special Beam Cannon capable of piercing through most blast attacks.

While they don’t have the raw power of the main Cell forms, Cell Jr. is surprisingly effective in battle thanks to their speed and agility. They excel at harassing opponents and landing quick combos, making them a fun and versatile option for players who enjoy playing as faster characters.

Another fun quirk of Cell Jr. in Sparking Zero is that you can pick him multiple times, a feature only shared by a select few characters like the Saibamen and Metal Cooler. This is due to there being a swarm of them instead of only one, something to keep in mind when making your own Custom Battles.

3Cell (1st Form)

A Strong Start, But Far From Perfect

Cell’s first form represents the beginning of his terrifying evolution in Sparking Zero. As an imperfect version of himself, Cell still manages to hold his own with strong physical attacks and the ability to absorb energy from his opponents, letting him regain some health in the process.

He has a basic moveset, which is useful but nothing we haven’t seen before, although his appearance is unique after so many years of being used to his perfect self. This was Cell at his sneakiest, where he could still terrorize entire cities but was no match for the strongest among the Z fighters.

2Cell (2nd Form)

Explosively Powerful

This version of Cell is, at times, even more iconic than his perfect self, since this was the one that tricked Vegeta into powering up, as well as the one that pushed everyone into a corner with his self-destruct ability. His design even came back in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, with Cell Max clearly being based off of him.

In Sparking Zero, this Cell is a clear continuation of his former self, still using his tail to absorb energy from his opponents, although he can use it as a regular rush attack now. This makes him more durable in combat, letting players wear down their foes by constantly keeping their health topped off.

His ultimate ability, however, isn’t a Kamehameha or anything like that; he swells up to an unthinkable size, getting ready to blow himself up. Due to the sheer spectacle of it all, this ability makes Cell (2nd Form) have the best self-destruct ability, second only to Majin Vegetafor the emotional cords that scene touches.

1Perfect Cell

The Ultimate Evolution

Based on raw stats alone, this is simply the best version of Cell, just as his name implies. This isn’t just for lore reasons, however, since his moveset is the best one out of all the Cells, although not without a loss: he can no longer absorb the life of others, something he never needed on the show but a very useful skill in the game.

He did, however, gain one skill, just like his show counterpart did: Instant Transmission. That is one of the most useful skills in the game, letting you catch up to your opponent with ease after throwing them away, not giving them a single moment to rest and keeping up the assault.

His ultimate ability also got an upgrade, since in his Cell (Perfect Form) version, he does an area attack that can be easy to miss. Now, he uses a deadly Kamehameha, something players are more than used to knowing when to land thanks to the many, many versions of Gokuin the game.
