In a game with enemies as vicious and numerous as Tyranid swarms or Thousand Sons Chaos forces, you’re going to need some effective weaponry. And luckily,Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2has weapons in spades. From Electric Hammers to Chainsaw Blades, or Laser Snipers to Boltguns, there are plenty of options to choose from.
Every Space Marine needs a reliable weapon, and Focus Entertainment has made pretty much every weapon viable on the battlefield, no matter your preferred playstyle. But, there are still some that shine above the rest. These are seven of the best weapons in Space Marine 2, ranked.
7Chainsword
One of the most iconic weapons of the Imperium, theChainswordis available in almost every class except the Sniper and Heavy. The Sniper uses a combat knife, and the Heavy gets no access to melee weapons.
This chainsaw-sword combination is a great all-around choice for any scenario. Some weapons may specialize in different situations, but the Chainsword is reliable in pretty much any fight you will find yourself in. It has a simple move-set that allows for lots of creativity in its combos, and many opportunities to stun enemies. By stunning low-level enemies, you get a free gun strike to recover armor. If you stun higher-level ones, you can pressure them.
Whether fighting waves of enemies or bosses, the Chainsword will have your back, and is a great weapon for both new players and veterans alike.
6Power Sword
ThePower Swordis only available inthe Bulwark class, but it is an incredible weapon with a lot of diversity. It has two stances; speed stance and power stance, and both provide different utilities.
With the speed stance, you will have access to quick combos perfect for single enemies or bosses. With the power stance, you will get wide, sweeping attacks perfect for hordes of smaller enemies. The damage output on each attack in a stance is the same, so feel free to choose whichever stance works best for the situation.
5Bolt Rifle With Grenade Launcher
One of the most common types of rifles in the game is the Bolt gun, as it has many different variations, ranging from single shots, to faster fire rates, to scopes. The best one of these is the default Bolt Rifle, specifically because of the grenade launcher option.
TheBolt Rifle, as one of its upgrades, has the ability to equip a grenade launcher, which is an incredibly useful tool. The rifle, even by itself, is quite reliable, putting out solid damage and range, but adding on the grenade launcher lets you clear out waves of smaller enemies and deal high damage to larger targets or bosses with a direct-damage missile.
4Plasma Pistol
ThePlasma Pistolis a sidearm, and it is a fantastic backup weapon. The plasma bolts do solid damage to targets as you would expect, and the charged shot is great for clearing out small crowds of fodder.
The charged shot is also perfect for interrupting the reinforcement cries of the higher-tier enemies. Stopping these reinforcements, especially on the higher difficulties, can be the difference between victory and defeat, so being able to easily interrupt them is paramount.
3Thunder Hammer
It’s impossible to make a list of notable weapons in Space Marine 2 without mentioning theThunder Hammer. An iconic weapon in the series, this is a two-handed sledgehammer equipped with thunderous might.
Only available in the Assault class, this weapon is perfect for dealing out huge area-of-effect damage to minor enemies, as well as solid damage to single targets, especially when you start upgrading it and unlocking perks.
2Las Fusil
TheLas Fusilis only available forthe Sniper class, and it is one of the highest damaging weapons in the game. This weapon is a sniper that, after a short charge, fires a devastating laser shot.
This weapon is so effective because of its range and damage output, especially in the sniper class, where you are able to up your damage output with headshots and cloak yourself repeatedly for even more damage. Try taking out major enemies from afar and watch the minor underlings fall in response.
1Melta Rifle
TheMelta Rifleis, arguably, the best weapon in the game. Whether it is the normal Melta rifle or the larger Multi-Melta, this weapon will delete targets off of your screen with incredible ease.
Now, each weapon has its best use and worst use cases. However, the Melta is pretty much effective in any situation. It is ideal for clearing out groups of weak targets, and can help you regenerate a lot of lost white health. And, even against larger targets, it is able to stun them quite easily, which many other weapons struggle with.
If you don’t know what weapon to take, and are in a class that has access to it, you can’t go wrong with the Melta.
