You’ve got lots of games about witches, but not the same number about witch hunters, but it’s okay because there’s Witchfirenow. You’re playing a certified magic-enhanced badass hired by the church to hunt down a witch who is making life a bit too terrible.

You’ve got your physical prowess, an unusual relationship with magic, and immortality that takes the form of sending you back to base every time you eat dirt. However, your real assets are your weapons, which are used to fire buckets of witch-dispatching bullets at anything remotely threatening. Getting new ones requires time and resources, but these are the ones you should invest in.

The Vulture crossbow.

7Vulture

No Whistling Required

Even though it’s the very first Demonic weapon that you get, the Vulture can be effective in multiple situations. As crowds become more common, this crossbow will become more and more of an asset. It’s described as being one of the earliest creations that the witches came up with when they joined the church.

When fired, the burning arrow pierces the first target before hunting for the next one. If you ever wanted to feel like Yondu, this weapon can get you kind of close. Its high damage, speed, and piercing effect make it ideal for finishing off tougher enemies or clearing out groups of weaker ones.

The Echo shotgun.

6Echo

Blast Back Burning

Of course, the shotgunis going to be on here, and it has quite a fitting name because of its kickback. However, this part of the Echo won’t slow you down, since your stamina will be able to catch some of its power. Being a shotgun, it has decent stopping power and a good spread for tackling groups.

As a close-range weapon, you’re able to eliminate enemies quickly as you charge right into them. For even more stopping power and damage, the Echo’s pellets can apply Burn to enemies with special shots that explode, causing the burn to spread to even more flammable targets.

The Hailstorm rifle.

5Hailstorm

Pinpoint Weather Phenomenon

It makes sense that a game as fast-paced as this one would encourage quick weapons with less attention to accuracy, but the Hailstorm needs to be appreciated. This is the second long-range weapon you can unlock and it comes with a fancy-looking scope.

It has some of the highest damage output of any weapon, so it can take out some of the toughest enemies (such as the Warden) before they even realize you’re in the area. It does require you to scope out good vantage points, but good application of the Hailstorm will allow it to bring down a literal storm on the field.

The Hangfire revolver.

4Hangfire

Lingering Bullets, Bigger Bang

As the second revolver to come into the fold, the Hangfire makes a strong impression with its cool name. It also has a pretty satisfying metallic click with each shot and its stats make it great at both close range and from a distance. It figuratively catches fire when you unlock its signature abilities that transform its bullets entirely.

The bullets turn from projectiles into mini-explosives that can be lodged in enemies, objects, or the land itself and will explode whenever you reload. This essentially allows you to create traps or annihilate some of the tougher enemies by covering them with bullet bombs.

The Ricochet machine gun.

3Ricochet

Bouncing Around The Crowd

Machine guns can be a bit tricky to use with their rapid firing causing the barrel to go all over the place, but the Ricochet is different. It requires you to fire in bursts so that you can keep control, but concentrated fire makes it great at holding hordes and individuals at bay.

Although it’s a mid-range weapon, it’s fairly balanced no matter how far you are from the target (within reason). If you’re wondering about the name, that’s where the magic comes in. The Ricochet gains the ability to tag enemies so that you can bounce multiple bullets between them for continuous damage whether you’re in the midst of the fight or peeking around a corner.

The Hunger revolver.

2Hunger

It Needs To Feed

The very first revolver you get may look and sound intimidating because it is. The Hunger is so named because a demon juiced it up to make whoever uses it always hungry for battle. This was made to be a close-range weapon for a reason and the reason is that it wants you to bounce between enemies, taking them out one after the other.

Though it has average damage, it has some of the highest stopping power in the game, so eventhe biggest enemiesflinch at its shots. These shots only become more powerful by feeding on critical hits and transforming reloaded bullets into powerful charged shots.

The Psychopomp shorty.

1Psychopomp

Never Stop Blasting

If there’s a weapon that’s arguably more hungry than the Hunger, it’s the shorty shotgun called the Psychopomp. It’s an unwieldy weapon that won’t stagger enemies easily but delivers high damage while allowing you to stay mobile. It relies on a nice stamina pool to stay active, but its secret power is that it will never stop firing if you keep feeding it.

By combining it with consistent melee fighting, you’ll keep recovering ammo so you’ll never be caught in a foolish reload. The more you charge into battle, the more you’ll recharge the Psychopomp’s chambers so that you can charge right back in.
