10A Graphical Update

Making Everything Shiny

One of the most notable changes in the Until Dawn Remake is the updated graphics. Everything ismade to look more realistic, down to the last hair. However, this doesn’t always work, with some of the more artistic hues of blue being replaced by brighter colors.

It just goes to show that style is more valuable than the number of polygons on the screen. Regardless, the graphics are still the first thing players will see and be able to compare when starting a fresh game.

9New Areas And Objects

A Bit More Wiggle Room

Until Dawn Remake does its best to capture everything that you loved from the original game. Witha narrative gamesuch as this, it often doesn’t leave much room to change the locations that the characters will stumble across naturally.

However, the remake still manages to include a few new areas that can expand the already existing ones. You might even find a few extra interactive items along the way. So, even if you’re familiar with the layout, it still has enough freshness to warrant a new playthrough.

8DLC Exclusive Content Returns

An All-In-One Package

When remaking the original game, one of the key components is being able to capture the original experience in its fullness. The game originally had a ten-minute scene dubbed The Road Not Taken.

This scene was locked behind a pre-order DLC, making it one of the rarest bits of downloadable content for any game. The remake includes this as part of the main game, so if you missed out on it the first time around, you’ll get to play through a short but character-building scene.

7Fresh New Camera Controls

Seeing The Game Through Fresh Lenses

One change that isn’t graphical is the way the new camera works. Until Dawn Remake gives you an over-the-shoulder camera type that is comparable to that of the Resident Evil Remakes. This means that you’re experiencing all the original areas from a new perspective.

This new camera control is more user-friendly, allowing you to discover more interactable objects without the fear of missing out on them. It also helps make the game feel fresh when you’re not going through an interactive cutscene or making dialogue choices.

6Two New Endings

Will Until Dawn Get A Sequel?

One of Until Dawn’s greatest strengths is that there aremultiple ways the story can end. If you don’t make the right choices, then there is a chance that not every member of the friend group will survive. This gives the game plenty of replayability.

But there are some new endings in the remake. Without spoiling too much, there is a way to change the fate of one character that you may have felt deserved a better outcome in the original game. So make your choices wisely because it might just set up a sequel.

5An Updated Prologue

Changing The Intro

When you start playing the remake of Until Dawn, you will notice right away that the intro has been completely revamped. This means that you get more dialogue between characters, as well as a different perspective on the prank the characters pull on Beth and Hannah.

The death of Beth and Hannah is one of the main reasons that events later in the game unfold the way they do. It does a better job of emphasizing their relationship with Josh, while at the same time doing a better job of showing the emotional impact of the prank on Hannah before she runs offinto the forest.

4A Small Change To Ashley’s Character

Some Subtle Moments Removed

One specific change made to a character within the game is an alteration to Ashley’s character. Ashley has always been the shy, quiet girl who is in love with Chris. In the original game, there is a moment that reveals a bit more of what Ashley might actually be like deep down underneath.

This is where she needs to decide whether to let Chris into the house during a critical moment. If Chris tries to shoot her earlier in the game, she will let the Wendigo kill him. This is gone in the remake, which takes away a bit of that hidden darkness within, as even if Chris betrays her, she still tries to save him and cries when she fails.

3Different Totem Locations

Time To Go On A Scavenger Hunt

There are plenty of new objects for players to interact with littered over each area. However, one of the most important are the Totems. These objects can be used to catch a glimpse at the future. This can mean something going right or something going terribly wrong.

With this info, you may work your way towards the best ending. However, in the remake, all the totem locations have been switched around. So, even if you’re familiar with the original game, you’ll have your work cut out for you.

2Hunger Totems Tell A New Story

Hunger And Cannibalism

Speaking of Totems, there are brand-new ones that weren’t in the original game. These are called Hunger Totems and they reveal never-before-seen details about Hannah’s struggle for survival after the prank gone wrong.

Each one will piece together her struggle for survival in the mines as well as how she succumbed to cannibalism and transformed into a Wendigo. To get the full story, be sure to look out for these Totems which are scattered around the game world. Once again, this is a feature that adds plenty of reasons to pick up the remake.

1Stay Calm Mechanics

Motion Controls And Accessibility

One defining feature of the original Until Dawn was that certain sequences would require you to stay perfectly still. Using the PS4’s gyroscopes, the game would be able to tell if you’re making any sudden movements and if you’ve got shaky hands from the fear, could result in a character dying.

Of course, with Until Dawn being yet anotherPlaystation exclusive that left its original console, changes to the control scheme are necessary. So, for those playing with third party peripherals, an additional Stay Calm mechanic has been added.
