Summary
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Timeis often considered as the best game ever made. While it may have aged a little bit since it launched back in 1998, you can’t deny the sheer amount of influence the title has had on the games industry as a whole. You could potentially argue that there aren’t many ways you could improve Ocarina of Time, but it turns out you can make any game better by adding an army ofPikmin.
Earlier this week,a TikTok of Link running around Hyrule with a bunch of Pikminin tow went viral, along with other mods created by the same person. The modder in question is a YouTuber called notCHase, who has been uploading videos showcasing their absolutely wild OCarina of Time mods for quite a while. Their latest video shows off the popular Pikmin mod in action, and it may as well be an unofficial Pikmin game.
The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Has Been Turned Into A Pikmin Game
The video begins with Link pulling a single Pikmin out of the ground then brutally slicing it down, showcasing the little ghost that pops out when they die, just like in the actual Pikmin games. They then grab a bunch of Pikmin out of the ground and proceed to show that Link can even throw the Pikmin, whether it be at enemies to defeat them, or to command them to grab items like Pieces of Heart in hard to reach places. They can even pick up people, which is absolutely terrifying to think about.
Amazingly, the gameplay goes even deeper than that too. Part way into the video, notCHase shows that these little Pikmin even have the ability to fix things, throwing a bunch of them at a broken bridge to fix it back to proper order. They’re also used to lift a large boulder, and a counter appears telling you exactly how many Pikmin are required to lift. See, it may as well be a proper Pikmin game.
These Pikmin can even react to the game’s environment too. Rather cruelly, notCHase heads into Death Mountain Crater, which prompts their horde of Pikmin to explain that they can’t stay in there long due to the heat. Shortly after, a lot of the Pikmin burst into flames and die, leaving a gang of red Pikmin behind. They can even drown too, as notCHase dives into some water to kill every Pikmin besides the blue ones.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear as though notCHase has made this mod available for public download. The only info that they provide is that this mod was made with the game’s open source PC port, so you won’t be able to adventure around Hyrule with Pikmin yourself. Still, notCHase’s channel is worth checking out, as they’ve managed to create a bunch of other wild mods, like adding Tears of the Kingdom’s Fuse and Recall abilities.
