Every character has to start theirPokemon TCGcareer somewhere, and you never know which set might have a bright future ahead; just look atthe most valuable sets from the Sword & Shield erafor an idea of what’s to come. As the 1,000th Pokemon, Gholdengo will stand out forever as a meaningful marker of just how far Pokemon has come during its lifespan.
While the early days of Gholdengo’s career see its only cards inScarlet & Violet’s Paradox Rift, there are plenty of sets to come in the future, as Gholdengo starts with a solid collection of five cards that accurately capture its goofy personality. While Gholdengo’s existence is divisive, you’ll learn to love this Pokemon as its value in the Pokemon TCG grows.
Cards are ordered according to theirTCGPlayerMarket Price, which you might pay on average for a copy of the cards below.
5Gholdengo: Paldean Fates (Rare) – $0.11
All That Glitters Isn’t Gold
Even Gholdengo boasts humble beginningsand a message that rings true in both Pokemon and life – money isn’t everything. This golden Pokemon’s panicked expression paints a sad picture as it unleashes an explosion of coins, raining down money along with its likely tears.
Unfortunately, Gholdengo didn’t receive anothercard that would qualify to be among Paldean Fates' most valuable.
This card continues to bounce up and down, dipping to as little as $0.05 in some cases, while jumping up to $0.11. The Holo and Reverse Holo versions of this card sell for roughly the same amount, though there is a reverse holo that jumped up to $0.20.
However, considering how small the values are, thesemassive percentage shifts aren’t likely to mean that this card will rise anytime soon.
4Gholdengo Ex: Paradox Rift (Double Rare) – $1.34
Good Things Come In Twos
Gholdengo’s Paradox Rift tour begins with this vibrant double rare that boasts a radiantly happy version of Gholdengo as it unleashes a Make It Rain attack. This card art deserves recognition as one of the best Double Rare cards in any modern Scarlet & Violet set.
Unfortunately, Double Rare cards won’t be likely to find themselves soaring in value, as we saw with some ofthe most valuable cards from the Sword and Shield era. However, there is another contender to come who might reach those impressive heights.
This card debuted around $11 and rose briefly before crashing down toward the seven-dollar range, eventually settling in at about a dollar. While its value has sunk to rock bottom and isn’t likely to rebound, this art deserves so much more, and it will get a moment to shine soon.
3Gholdengo Ex: Paradox Rift (Ultra Rare) – $2.85
Ready To Dance
This version of Gholdengo has a chance to be the brightest depiction of this gold coin Pokemon for a long time, as the combination of its golden body and orange background make this card pop from among a group. Who wouldn’t notice this goofy Pokemon smiling as it appears to dance?
This card’s price continues to sink from its former highs around $14, as it never stood a chance to maintain its pre-sale price, sinking toward the $3.50 range. It continues to fall toward the two-dollar floor, but there’s hope that this card might regain some value when Paradox Rift goes out of print.
2Gholdengo Ex: Prize Pack Series (Double Rare) – $6.01
Twice As Nice
The gorgeous Double Rare artwork doesn’t go to waste, as it’s also featured on this Prize Pack series card, which can be acquired by attending a PLAY! Pokemon in-person tournament. The only way to distinguish this cardfrom the original version is through the stamp on the bottom right of the art.
This card debuted at around seven dollarsbut hasn’t had much time to mature, so its value remains relatively stable in price. However, while the future is uncertain, this card is likely to continue falling in value, but will always cost more than the basic double rare from Paradox Rift. Its exclusivity will give this card a value spike once it becomes difficult to find.
1Gholdengo Ex: Paradox Rift (Special Illustration Rare) – $15.69
Too Cool To Care
The Special Illustration Rare from Paradox Rift takes home the title as the most expensive Gholdengo card we’ve received thus far, as this Pokemon still has plenty more to show in the Pokemon TCG. While there may be new Gholdengo cards coming at any moment, it’s important to see where this Pokemon began and where its value might go.
Although it’s unlikely to compete forthe most valuable cards in the Scarlet & Violet era, this Gholdengo card offers unique artwork and is part of a two-card scene with its unevolved form, Gimmighoul. Considering that this card was one of the earliest examples of shared scenes in S&V, it’s likely to regain lost ground over time, as itonce hovered around $40 before slipping toward $20 and eventually $15.
