Every Pokemon in thePokemon TCGhas a selection of cards you may not be familiar with, especially when it comes to unusual choices like Noctowl. The most valuable Noctowl cards fly to unexpectedly high prices as they’re featured in some ofthe most valuable sets of all time.
While there’s no arguing that the majority of Noctowl’s most expensive cards are found in vintage sets, this Pokemon continues to impress with a modern promo card that keeps its legacy alive. While Noctowl doesn’t boastthe wide-reaching appeal of iconic Pokemon like Charizard, this Johto favorite boasts an impressive roster of valuable cards.
Cards are ordered according to theirTCGPlayerMarket Price, which you might pay on average for a copy of the(first edition, where applicable)cards below.
Given the age and rarity of these cards, onlythose with anestablished market price on TCGplayerare included.
However, sale prices differ depending on the card’s condition,so this market price is just a rough idea of the card’s value.
6Noctowl BREAK: XY Promos (Promo) – $4.55
Breaking New Ground
Don’t go searching for this Noctowl in one of the BREAK sets, as, like many ofthe most expensive cards from the XY era, this Noctowl is a promo. While BREAK cards divide opinions, this is easily the most epic depiction of Noctowl in motion, as this action shot highlights the Pokemon’s impressive wingspan.
This card can be found for as little as $0.99 in damaged condition if you just want to own any copy, but you won’t have to pay much more if you’re looking for a slightly nicer one. Heavily played(HP)cards will cost about $1.17, while moderately played(MP)cards will go for closer to $2.90.
5Noctowl: Neo Genesis (Uncommon) – $4.56
A Stoic Entry
The most expensive cards from Neo Genesissell for shocking amounts, which leaves this portrait of Noctowl seeming like a bargain at about $4.50. The art isn’t particularly flashy and Noctowl isn’t doing much to speak of, but this simple depiction fits with Noctowl’s serious personality.
While some lightly played(LP)cards exceed the prices of recent near-mint(NM)sales, you won’t pay more than $6.29 for a clean copy of this first-edition Noctowl.
While damaged copies cost two dollars, it’s hard to pass up the chance to grade an NM copy hoping to own a perfect ten.
4Noctowl: HeartGold SoulSilver (Holo Rare) – $5.01
A Bright Horizon Ahead
This Noctowl gazes into the distance, longing for a future where its cards are among the most valuable in the Pokemon TCG. While that day may never come for some cards, Noctowl is known to have Psychic abilities, creating hope that there’s something special waiting for fans of this owl Pokemon.
This card has areverse holo version that typically outsells the holo in LP conditions, but doesn’t have a distinct market price, thus leaving the holo rare with the default victory. However,NM copies of this holo cap out at $5.98,with the reverse only reaching heights of $4.21.
3Noctowl: Skyridge (Uncommon) – $5.99
A Slow Rise
Noctowl’s most valuable cards thus far have maintained a slow and steady ascent to their potential, asthis gem from Skyridgecreeps up toward the six-dollar mark, as Noctowl predominantly hovers around the five-dollar range.
However, this card has its sights set higher, despite Noctowl’s glance over its shoulder at the competition it leaves behind.
While the reverse holo version of this card commands a higher value, there’s only one recent sale and no established market price, leaving room for the Normal version to claim the spot (for now). NM copies command about $6.00, while some cards have sold for as much as $6.95. If you don’t mind settling for an LP copy, you can pick one up for about $4.04.
2Noctowl (PC Exclusive): Scarlet & Violet Promo Cards (Promo) – $19.69
Peering Into The Future
Noctowl reappears in modern sets with one of the best promo cards in Scarlet and Violet, though it has a ways to go to reach the heights ofthe most expensive cards from the S&V era thus far.The art captures Noctowl peeking into its home in a tree, taking in the collection of glimmering treasures it collected.
This Pokemon Center exclusive promo is still young, though it opened at roughly $19 in value. Still, sales often dip in the weeks following until the price stabilizes. While there’s still plenty of time to sort out where the market’s demand is strongest, this Noctowl stands out from the pack on the back of its strong art.
1Shining Noctowl: Neo Destiny (Secret Rare) – $400.90
A Shining Grail
Shining Noctowl soars miles above the rest of its cards, asthis expensive gem from Neo Destinyearns its price by giving us this unique close-up depiction of Noctowl. While the signature art style of the Shining Pokemon in Neo Destiny makes it hard to appreciate this card through a screen, this card’s slick holo pattern pops in person.
A first-edition copy of this card sets the market price at$400,but as the only sale, this card will likely rise if an NM copy exceeds the amount paid for anLP card.
There are listings available ranging from $199 for a damaged copy, with one NM listing seeking over $1,000. However, listings are not equivalent to sales, so the market still needs to confirm the first edition’s value. However,NM Unlimitedcopies cap out atabout $190if you care about condition, but not first-edition.
