Any set that features shiny variations in thePokemon TCGis sure to be a hit, and the same holds true for Power Keepers. While there are more than Gold Stars to enjoy among the best cards in Power Keepers, it’s impossible to ignore the looming shadows ofthree fantastic Gold Star Eeveelutionsto come.
However, as is the case with many ofthe most valuable EX-era Pokemon TCG sets,Power Keepers boasts more than a few cards to chase, with “ex” entries of popular Pokemon like Absol, Metagross, and more. Whether you’re only interested in the top-of-the-line offerings or you’re hunting down hidden gems, Power Keepers has something for you to enjoy.
Cards are ordered according to theirTCGPlayerMarket Price, which you might pay on average for a copy of the cards below.
Given the age and rarity of these cards, onlythose with anestablished market price on TCGplayerare included.
However, sale prices differ depending on the card’s condition,so this market price is just a rough idea of the card’s value.
10Walrein Ex (Ultra Rare) – $31.49
An Ice Cold Killer Walrein
Walrein is an often underappreciated Pokemon, as thecompetition among Ice and Water-type Pokemonis fierce. This Walrein art focuses on the Pokemon’s ferocious power, as it takes a swing at a foe in battle.
Despite its intimidating introduction, Walrein’s price isn’t high enough to scare you away if you’re willing to settle for a copy in imperfect condition. A heavily played(HP)copy previously sold for $8.34, while a moderately played(MP)card sold for close to double that at $17.44. Lightly Played(LP)copies make a small jump into the $20 range, though near-mint(NM) copies can approach $30.
9Flygon Ex (Ultra Rare) – $42.22
A Vibrant Flygon
While it’s just an ex like many of the other best cards in Power Keepers, this Flygon features a fantastic design that focuses equally on the Pokemon as it does on the beautiful background. Flygon takes on a nearly 3D appearance in this stunning card that earns it a place among the best cards from the set.
You can own this card relatively cheaply if you don’t mind buying a damaged copy, which will only set you back about ten dollars. MP cards make a jump to $20 (though there is an erroneous sale at $47), while LP cards typically trade in the mid-20s, followed lastly by therare NM copy which can sell for almost $50.
8Skarmory Ex (Ultra Rare) – $42.38
A Steel-Type Showdown
Skarmory, like Walrein, is rarely featured as the highlight of a set, but this solid Steel-type bird boasts a striking artwork in Power Keepers, making it one of the best cards in the set, though it narrowly edges Flygon, selling for less than a dollar more than the Dragon and Ground-type Pokemon.
Oddly enough, Skarmory typically sells for less than Flygon across most conditions, despite boasting a slightly higher market price. Some HP copies have sold for $12, but strangely, MP copies sold for less as they were unable to crack into the double digits. LP copies right the ship, coming in at $31 in some cases, withNM copies helping to prop up its price at sales near $40.
7Metagross Ex (Ultra Rare) – $49.71
Reaching For More
Metagross makes an appearance with a dark depiction of this Steel and Psychic-type Pokemon, giving it an uncharacteristically evil vibe. Despite the darkness, Metagross shines through with its powerful claw reaching out toward us, intimidating its opponent.
Metagross starts to create distance between itself and the first few valuable cards in Power Keepers, as this Pokemon commands over $15 in HP conditions. MP can jump to $22, while buying an LP copy will cost about $30, followed lastly byNM cards at around $50.
6Absol Ex (Ultra Rare) – $56.50
Blinded By The White
Absol’s brilliant white coat is perfectly complemented by the striking white slashes in the background, as it sets this card apart from the other expensive Power Keepers cards. Absol dashes through the frame as the lines behind it help to create a blurring effect to make it seem like Absol is running at high speed.
Even though there are more NM sales to reference than prior entries, this card continues to trend upward in value, pushing past the $50 plateau and reaching into the mid-50s. AnNM sale reached heights of $59.99,leaving evidence that the positive trend might continue.
5Salamence Ex (Ultra Rare) – $64.20
A Popular Pseudo-Legendary
Salamence is a staple of the EX-era, appearing amongthe best cards in EX Deoxysin addition to its entry here. This glittering depiction of the Dragon-type Pokemon gives it center stage, though it lacks a spotlight or some sort of contrast to help it pop against the background.
Design flaws aside, Salamence stays strong with a solid sales history to support its market price, with HP copies capable of hitting up to $25. MP cards go a bit higher, with sales reaching $44 in some cases, though LP sales can get even higher, with some sales registering $55.NMcards are slightly harder to find, though they typically sell forabout $60.
4Charizard (Holo Rare) – $163.34
Always Save A Spot For Charizard
Charizard didn’t become the icon it is today by sharing the spotlight, as it typically steals the show whenever it appears. However, while thisCharizard can’t equal some of the most valuable versions ever,it soars high enough to be considered one of the most valuable cards in Power Keepers as the sole non-ex Holo Rare thus far.
Charizard takes charge, exceeding Salamence by roughly $100 in value, withan NM sale at $199.99blowing all other previous competition out of the water.
3Flareon Star (Ultra Rare) – $275.00
The Fire-Type Champion
It’s time to introduce the heavy hitters, as this gorgeous Flareon Star is worthy of a spot amongthe most valuable Flareon cards of all time.
Shiny color palettes are the hallmark of “Star” Pokemon, alsocalled Gold Stars, which is denoted by thesymbol of the same name next to the Pokemon’s name.
Flareon towers above Charizard, with an MP Flareon selling for $300, which well exceeds the maximum price of the previous Charizard. With that $300 sale setting the current high, it will take an LP or NM sale to confirm the market price in the future.
2Jolteon Star (Ultra Rare) – $484.50
Jumping Into A New Stratosphere
If you were impressed with Flareon, then one ofthe most valuable Jolteon cards everwill shock you, as this Electric-type Pokemon leaves Flareon in the dust.
The tint of Jolteon’s coat gives ita slightly different lookwithout completely altering its color scheme.
While these cards aren’t easy to find, there are several more sales to reference in comparison to Flareon, with HP copies of Jolteon starting at $180. MP jumps to $265, withLPexploding into a different dimension, reaching heights of $550.There are no recent NM sales, but expect them to easily eclipse the prior data.
1Vaporeon Star (Ultra Rare) – $560.00
Vaporizing The Competition
Vaporeon gets the last word among its fellow Eeveelutions, claiming the crown as the most valuable Gold Star in Power Keepers on the back of its stunning pink and purple recolor. The stunning background offers the perfect complement to Vaporeon’s shiny variant.
Unfortunately, this card is the most difficult to find of the three Eeveelutions, with only two sales to note: a damaged copy at $180 andan LP that sold for $560,setting the market price and leaving us to wonder how high it might go when an NM sells.
