ThePokemon TCGis home to monsters, food, and ghostly creatures from every generation, including Pokemon with multiple forms, like Rotom. While the most popular Ghost-type Pokemon,Gengar, boast a variety of valuable cardsfrom sets throughout Pokemon TCG history, Rotom’s greatest hits primarily come from a small handful of sets.
While Rotom’s peak can’t quite reach the heights ofthe best cards from the Sword and Shield era, there are some excellent cards to appreciate. Whether you’re a Rotom fan (no pun intended) or just enjoy collecting the best cards, some of the most valuable Rotom cards offer excellent artwork and great bang for your buck.
Cards are ordered according to theirTCGPlayerMarket Price, which represents what you might pay on average for a copy of the cards below. Only cards with anestablished market price on TCGplayerare included.
However, sale prices differ depending on the card’s condition,so this market price is just a rough idea of the card’s value. Mow Rotom missed the $15 cutoff but would be right behind its Wash Rotom peer.
6Wash Rotom: Rising Rivals (Ultra Rare) – $16.50
Starting With A Spin Cycle
Wash Rotom has a storied history in the VGC as one of the most difficult Pokemon to deal with at its peak, with this artwork offering an excellent view of Rotom’s confused expression. Thegorgeous reverse holo patternon these cards from Rising Rivals makes each scene stand out by providing vibrant contrasting colors.
You can find this card in almost any condition, with heavily played(HP)starting around six dollars, moderately played(MP)moving up to about ten dollars, lightly played(LP)jumping up to the $15+ range, capped off by near-mint(NM)copies, which command as high as $17.
5Heat Rotom: Rising Rivals (Ultra Rare) – $17.32
Let It Cook
Heat Rotom takes the baton from Wash Rotom, moving the scene into another area of the house, with this oven-themed artwork. The red eyes of this Fire-type glow brightly red with mischief, as this version of Rotom is typically the most intimidating.
However, Mimikyu is typically more mischievous than Rotom, offering several examples amongits most valuable cards.
Even without an overwhelming amount of sales data, this card is fairly easy to find across conditions, as you can pick up MP copies for close to ten dollars, while LP will be a little more, around $12 or $13, withNM versions jumping up into the $18 range, which isn’t too much more for a clean copy.
4Fan Rotom: Rising Rivals (Ultra Rare) – $18.54
Soaring Above Appliances
Fan Rotom doesn’t often get the love it deserves, especially compared to Wash Rotom, as this version often battles it out with the Mow Rotom as the least-used version. However, this simple design gives Rotom more of its charming characteristics back, veering away from the angry-looking red eyes that you’ll find on Heat Rotom.
This Rotom sawa surge in price during the second half of 2024, jumping from the $16 plateauup into the $18 range as it seems destined to climb back above $20, where it once stood.
The most valuable cards from the Diamond and Pearl eraoffer plenty of competition for this Rising Rivals card and its Platinum peers.
3Frost Rotom: Rising Rivals (Ultra Rare) – $21.59
Is Your Refrigerator Rotom?
Frost Rotomearns the title as the most valuable Rotom card from Rising Rivals, beating out Wash, Heat, Fan, and the distant Mow Rotom forsupremacy among the appliance forms. This artwork stands out from the others and evenincludes a cameo from a fan Rotom-ready applianceon the table in the background.
Much like the prior Rotom, Frost boasts a beautiful price trend that sees it movingfrom the $18 range to greener pastures around $22.Without many competitors to stand in its way, this card’s impressive price trend suggests that it may soon be in a battle for the top two spots.
2Wash Rotom (Staff Prerelease): SM Promos (Promo) – $21.92
Washing Away The Other Machines
This Rotom Wash bears the unique double distinction of two stamps: one for the Ultra Prism prerelease, and a second to denote a staff-exclusive copy.Ultra Prism is a fantastic set packed with valuable cards, and this promo commemorates the moments before its release into the Pokemon TCG space.
These cards were only distributed to staff members during the Ultra Prism prerelease events in the Sun & Moon era.
This card is rare, but luckily it’s usually available in LP or NM condition, given that the original owners all cared for this limited card. Prices hover firmly around the $20 mark, with conditions playing a role in determining a premium thatrises toward $23 for the best cards.
1Rotom V: Lost Origin (Alternate Full Art) – $35.83
A Host Of Opportunities
Rotom V already stands out asone of the most valuable cards in Lost Origin, and now it claims the top spot as the most expensive Rotom of all time, beating out the entire lineup of home appliances that it can possesswith its base form.
However, there’s nothing simple about this fantastic scene depicting Rotom floating among the various appliances, expertly including them in this household vignette.
While you can choose between LP and NM conditions, both options will cost almost the same, with LP ranging from $34 to $42 while NM has strangely sold in a lower average range from $32 to $39. It’s possible some sales were listed with inflated condition assessments, but you shouldexpect to pay right around the market price for a clean card.
