Summary
ThePokemon TCGis overflowing with dozens of gorgeous artworks, some reserved for themost popular Pokemon like Charizard. However, even less popular legendary Pokemon like Yveltal feature numerous unique designs that can range from standard to sublime.
The Dark-type legendary debuted in the X&Y era, featuring several cards acrossthe most valuable sets in the generation. However, the top-tier selections are concentrated in a few select sets, with Yveltal appearing multiple times in collections like Forbidden Light and the XY Base Set.
Cards are ordered according to theirTCGPlayerMarket Price, representing what you might pay on average for a copy of the cards below.
However, sale prices are vastly different depending on the card’s condition,so this market price is just a rough idea of the card’s value.
7Yveltal EX: XY Base Set (Ultra Rare) – $6.20
Putting The Y In XY
The XY Base Set is the first stop on our journey to find the most expensive Yveltal cards, beginning with a respectable Ultra Rare featuring a close view of Yveltal. This ferocious EX artwork is a terrifying depiction of this evil legendary Pokemon, as the black palette and red accents senda clear message of danger.
Given this card’s age, you can find it in any condition:damaged, heavily played(HP), moderately played(MP), lightly played(LP),and near mint(NM).
Despite the wide range of cards available across the condition spectrum, this Yveltal is fairly inexpensive even in perfect condition so there aren’t many unmissable deals to be had. You can still save four or five dollars by settling for damaged instead of NM, but it hardly seems worth it.
6Yveltal XY06: XY Promos (Promo) – $6.23
The First Promo Appearance
This Yveltal promo card represents the simplest form of promo you can find: an exclusive card not usually found in the set’s packs featuring almost no other distinctive visual qualities. Unfortunately, this card doesn’t deliver much in the way of intrigue, but the card art is solid enough, even if it’s nothing special.
However, at over six dollars, this card costs a lot more than your standard bulk common, though condition plays a major role in confirming that value.LP copies max out at around four dollars, whileMPordamagedcopies sell for under two dollars.
5Yveltal GX: Forbidden Light (Full Art) – $8.28
An Appropriate Combination Of Color
This Yveltal from Forbidden Light is the first or two inclusions from this set for Yveltal, as there’s a distinct version of the card art still to come. For now, it’s worth appreciating the synergy between the dark background and Yveltal’s accents, as they work in tandem to make this card pop.
NM copies have seen rises as high as $9.40 and dips as low as $8.18 in recent times, though you’ll only save a dollar when settling for an LP copy of this card. If you prefer perfect copies, then stick to NM assacrificing on condition doesn’t save much money in this case.
4Yveltal: Paradox Rift (Special Illustration Rare) – $14.84
A Swirling, Hypnotic Art
Now that Paradox Rift has had some time to cool down, the landscape has changed dramatically among the most valuable cards in the set, though the Yveltal comes away as a major winner after the significant shakeup.
The most valuable Paradox Riftcards have seen major changes at the top, but even cards that used to be in the single digits, like Yveltal, have jumped up into the $15 range.
Yveltal saw a massive spike in value, launching itself from below six dollars, toa high of about $17 in the Spring of 2024.While this card is worthy of a double-digit price tag, the future will tell if it can crack into the 20s along with a few other peers hovering just below the threshold.
3Yveltal GX: Forbidden Light (Secret Rare) – $19.02
An Unlikely Color For Yveltal
Unsurprisingly, Yveltal is amongthe most expensive cards in Forbidden Light, as this Rainbow Secret Rare-focused set gives even the most unorthodox choices a polychromatic paint job. While some Pokemon can pull off this major change, seeing Yveltal engulfed in the same colors usually indicative of its rival, Xerneas, is odd.
NM copies command a premium, selling in the region of $20,but you can find deals as low as $11 for LP copies if you’re not interested in grading the card. If you’re looking for a copy clean enough to get a perfect score at your company of choice, then you canexpect to pay closer to $22 or $23 for the cleanest copies.
2Yveltal EX: XY Base Set (Full Art) – $25.58
An Intimidating Full-Art
Yveltal’s debut in the XY Base Set marked the beginning of a Kalos-themed era that features striking art like this Yveltal. The dark background features flashes of white light that brighten the scene, allowing Yveltal’s red and black color palettes to pop against the purple behind it.
This card’s value jumps around, even in NM condition, as you might find a copy foras low as $20,but other sales have soaredas high as $32,leaving a significant range open for the cleanest cards.
1Yveltal EX: Alternate Art Promos (Promo) – $43.53
A Clash Of Good And Yveltal
The Yveltal EX promo features the most stunning depiction of Yveltal thus far, as this Dark-type legendary is locked in an eternal struggle with its rival, Xerneas. Yveltal and Xerneas' battle rages on in this incredible promo, as they share space equally while we watch their struggle.
If you enjoy Yveltal, then this card is a must-have, though you may have to payas much as $49 for an NM copy. However, LP copies drop into the $33 range, with MP following suit at $29.
