In thePokemon TCG,there are plenty of printings of your favorite Pokemon. With over 1000 creatures introduced to the franchise, there is bound to be one that you just can’t get enough of. One of the more popular Pokemon from the first generation is Chansey.

Chansey has always been a rather elusive Pokemon. During its first appearance in the Safari Zone, players had one chance to capture it before it ran away. This made it an excellent Pokemon to add to your collection and luckily, in the TCG, they won’t run away. From special arts to classic pulls, these are the eight most valuable Chansey cards in the Pokemon TCG.

8Chansey 2011 Ross Cawthon $3.50

A Champion’s Chansey

What does it take to reach the top rankings of the Pokemon TCG? This usually requires quick thinking, a good deck, and a little bit of luck. Ross Cawthon was able to take his deck to the World Championship, which included a Chansey. This deck would eventually be recreated as a collector’s item.

This special printing of Chansey from the HeartGold and SoulSilver era may not be tournament-legal, but it does make for a nice piece of history for the TCG. This version of the card has a silver border and Ross Cawthon’s signature in the bottom right corner of the card art.

Neo Destiny Chansey Pokemon TCG Card Art.

7Chansey Neo Destiny $9.17

Flip A Coin And Get Lucky

The Neo Destiny setincludes another valuable Chansey card. Chansey has always been a rather luck-based Pokemon since the odds of encountering one in the wild and successfully catching it have been slim. In the TCG, Chansey is also a Pokemon whose Moves benefit the lucky.

Both its Moves require you to flip coins. Doubleslap has you flipping two for a maximum of 40 damage. Egg Toss also has you flipping two coins, but will only deal the promised 80 damage if you only land on heads. During its prime, 80 damage could knock out many Stage One Pokemon. However, getting this to work properly depends on how much faith you have in Chansey.

6Chansey Twilight Masquerade Illustration Rare $9.98

A Busy Day At The Pokemon Center

Twilight Masqueradecontains one of the cutest printings of Chansey. In the Pokemon games as well as in the Anime, Chansey is known for being somewhat of a healer. This special illustration of Chansey depicts a typical day at the Pokemon Center.

Also depicted on this card are Snorlax, Psyduck, Ditto, and Bellsprout. The special illustration is one of the more fun ones as Chansey almost tips over a few books it is carrying. If you’re looking for a premium Chansey, then this is one that you want front and center.

Base Set 2 Chansey Pokemon TCG Card Art.

5Chansey Base Set 2 Holo Rare $10.08

A Second Printing Of An Iconic Card

While reprintings ofthe original Base Set of the Pokemon TCGoften don’t go up in value compared to their earlier printings, there is one reprinting that might be of interest. This is the set known as Base Set 2. This box collects all the classics and gives them a special marking on the right-hand side.

Unlike other future reprintings or even retrains of the original set, this one keeps the holo foiling, the red HP text, and the formatting of the original card. The key difference between this card and the others is that it lacks the first edition stamp on the left side.

Japanese Chansey Pokemon TCG Card Art.

4Blank’s Chansey Gym Challenge $26.22

A Japanese Exclusive

The Japanese Pokemon TCGprintings occur earlier than they do in the West, while other times, sets are released as smaller expansions before being compiled into much larger sets. The best cards, however, are the ones that don’t get translated.

This Chansey shares the same trait as Birthday Pikachu. It belongs to someone, but the name is blanked out. The idea is that you write your own name on the line which, in this scenario, makes you the official owner. One notable move is Lucky Egg, which has you flip a coin. If you land on heads you can draw two cards. If you land on tails, you need to shuffle two cards from your hand back into the deck.

Base Set Chansey Pokemon TCG Card Art.

3Chansey Base Set Holo Rare $29.43

Look For The Shadows

The Base set is where Pokemon cards often start getting really expensive. One iconic card from way back in the day is Chansey. There are a few key details that keep it from having ten times the original value. The most obvious would be the usual wear and tear that often plagues unprotected cards.

This card also lacks the first edition stamping and if you take a peek at the art box, you will notice a shadow that separates it from the white coloring of the card body. Despite not being shadowless, it is still a nice price for an older card that fills you with the nostalgia of stalling the match with its Scrunch Move.

Chansey EX Pokemon TCG Card Art.

2Chansey EX Ruby And Sapphire $30.69

Holo Foiling Everywhere

Chansey EX shares similar traits to other EX cards that were released in the Ruby and Sapphire set. It has holo foiling not just on the card art, but all around the border as well. This makes the card gorgeous to look at and one of the more valuable Chansey cards before the prices start skyrocketing into the stratosphere.

Despite not having an E-Reader barcode on the card body, the card also features the E-Reader symbol on the bottom left. It also features the Move, Healing Egg, which heals two damage counters from each of your Pokemon. Double-edge deals 80 damage while also doing 60 damage to itself.

Shadowless Base Set Chansey Pokemon TCG Card Art.

1Chansey Shadowless Base Set $300.00

Chansey Goes To The Moon

Some of the most coveted cards from the original Base set of the Pokemon TCG are the shadowless ones. This can get tricky when some boxes are from later printings where they all got shadows, while others happened so early that fewer exist in the wild.

Besides having the first edition stamp, which is always a plus, this card also has the white part of the body touching the gold of the card art. These are the kind of cards that many collectors consider sending over to get graded. However, watch out because printing errors may cause marks on the holo foiling.
