ThePokemon TCGhas had plenty of experimental cards over the years from the addition of Fairy-types to the inclusion of Mega Evolution Pokemon. Each card type has had its distinct design and one in particular didn’t add anything to the card game itself but to your actual copies of Pokemon video games.

These cards are the elusive E-reader printings that are compatible with the Game Boy Advance add-on of the same name. Some of these E-Reader cards are more expensive than you realize. So here are the eight most expensive printings of the E-Reader cards in the Pokemon TCG.

Skyridge Alakazam Pokemon TCG Card Art.

Card values reflect the market value as seen onTCGPlayer.comand may be subject to fluctuation with time.

8Alakazam Skyridge $330.00

Mind Bending Psychic Abilities

Pokemon TCG’s Skyridge sethas plenty of cards worth hundreds of dollars. One of these cards is Alakazam. This E-Reader card does what all cards of this variety do. It shows you a special Pokedex entry when you scan it. This neat but sensitive feature is what makes these printings so hard to maintain over the years.

However, there are more reasons to love this card. It has a very eerie depiction of Alakazam staring at you with glowing red eyes. The card is also holographic, so it adds to the premium look of the card as it stands there in the moonlit glow.

Umbreon Aquapolis Holo Rare from the Pokemon TCG.

7Umbreon Aquapolis $399.80

More Eerie Happenings At Night

Umbreon may not get as much love as some of theother Eveelutionssuch as Espeon and Vaporeon. However, it is still a very elegant Dark-type Pokemon. Umbreon got an E-Reader printing in the Aquapolis set of the Pokemon TCG. This gives it that ever-so-valuable strip on the card border.

This card depicts Umbreon traveling along the rooftops in the dead of night. The holographic foiling hides a series of backdrop details such as a giant Moon in the night sky and the rooftop of a tower. With a black card body mixing with the yellow of the border, it just so happens that the entire card design shares Umbreon’s color patterns.

The Crystal Ho-Oh from Skyridge in the Pokemon TCG.

6Ho-Oh Skyridge $400.00

Praise Ho-Oh!

Ho-Oh is known for being one of the coolest Fire-type legendaries in the series. Not only does it play a major part in the lore of the Johto region, but fans of the anime will also remember it fondly as the unknown Pokemon that Ash saw on his first day as a Trainer. So, of course, the printings of the Pokemon in the TCG have to be just as cool.

The Ho-Oh found in the Skyridge set features a unique art style and a holographic foiling that extends beyond the card art box and onto the card body itself. Being a Colorless Pokemon also allows the body that extra reflectiveness needed to look dazzling.

Two E-Reader Printings?

There are two valuable versions of Umbreon that just so happen to be worth hundreds of dollars. While the first could be found in Aquapolis, the second can be found in the Skyridge set. This one features a completely different art depiction as well as a new Poke-Body and Move.

Dark Gaze stops all Poke-Powers from working and Sharp Claws has the potential to do up to 40 damage with the right coin flip. This version of the card depicts Umbreon looking back at you with its red eyes. Have you disturbed it during its late-night travels? Once again, Umbreon radiates mystique and elegance in the nighttime setting.

4Golem Skyridge $460.46

Do Golems Have Tails?

Crystal Type is a Poke-Body that many Pokemon in the Skyridge set share. It is a unique ability that allows them to change their card typing depending on what the last Energy card attached to it was. The Golem from Skyridge is capable of switching between Grass, Fire, and Fighting-type.

In addition to this, both of Golem’s Moves utilize multiple Energy types, making them similar to the modern-day Dragon cards. This depiction of this Golem has it standing on the rocky cliffs watching the sun go down. The orange sky and Golem’s natural rocky body look great together behind the holographic foiling of the card art.

The Aquapolis Nidoking from the Pokemon TCG.

3Nidoking Aquapolis $549.95

A Sparkling King

Nidoking is an often underrated Pokemon. However, it also has one of the coolest designs. If any Pokemon looked like a true monster from the original 150, one of them would be Nidoking. One of the most expensive Nidoking cards can be found inthe Aquapolis set.

This card is not just an E-Reader printing but it also has a sparkling body due to its Crystal Type Poke-Body. The card shows Nidoking surging with energy as the holographic foiling causes sparkles to surround its body. Is it preparing an attack or is it showing off its power to hold dominion over all the other Ground Pokemon that cross its path?

Expedition Charizard Pokemon TCG Card Art.

2Charizard Expedition $619.99

Charizard Stays Expensive

It’s safe to say that Charizard is one of the most popular starter Pokemon of all time. Who doesn’t love having a fire-breathing dragon as a companion during your journey? While Charizard may not be a Dragon-type, it is still treated with such regard due to its design.

Of course, this also makes card printings of this Pokemon fetch a good price, andthe Expedition set of the Pokemon TCGhas one of the most expensive printings. The card art features Charizard flying through the sky surrounded by holo foiling. This card is also the best hit you can get when opening a pack of Expedition. So are you willing to take the risk?

The Aquapolis Lugia Secret Rare from the Pokemon TCG.

1Lugia Aquapolis $2,398.95

Sucking Your Wallet Dry

Would you ever spend more than $2000 on a Pokemon card? Unless you have deep pockets, you had better hope that your luck is more powerful. The Lugia found in the Aquapolis set is not only the rarest and most expensive hit in the set, but it is also one of the most expensive Pokemon cards ever printed before you start looking at the graded market.

Being a Colorless Pokemon, this card looks excellent in white. The background of this card art has a blue-tinted holographic foiling that makes the card design resemble Lugia’s color scheme. If there ever was a perfect card design, this is one of them.
