Deep within the heart of the Galar Region, a mysterious Pokemon lies slumbering, surrounded by a mysterious power known as Dynamax energy. This creature is known as Eternatus and in thePokemon TCG, it is just as much of a powerhouse as it is in the games.
Eternatus is a huge Pokemon and in many of its card incarnations, it can barely squeeze into such a small art window, which is only fitting. From radiant renditions to unique card arts that few other Pokemon get to be printed in, these are the eight most valuable Eternatus cards in the TCG.
Card values reflect the market value as seen onTCGPlayer.comand may be subject to fluctuation with time.
8Eternatus Vmax Darkness Ablaze $2.96
When Minor Details Add Value
Eternatus Vmax was originally printed in theDarkness Ablaze set of the Pokemon TCG. This card can Evolve from a regular Eternatus V to achieve a new level of power. While another printing of Eternatus Vmax was printed as a promo card, this one had to be pulled from the packs.
This specific printing of Vmax has a few more sparkles and a reversed design in contrast to its promo variant. These little details may be hard to notice at first but they are more prevalent the closer you look. This card is so powerful, that if it were to be knocked out, your opponent would take three prize cards.
7Eternatus Vmax Oversized $3.72
Perfect As An Oversized Card
One card that feels right at home as an oversized printing is Eternatus Vmax. After all, in the games, the Pokemon towers over the player as it spews Dynamax energy everywhere. This specific oversize shares the same card art as the promo version of Eternatus Vmax.
Notable differences in the card art include the hand facing to the right instead of to the left. There are also fewer sparkles drawn on the card art. However, it does share all the same moves and abilities as the regular Vmax card. This includes its Eternal Zone Ability, which allows you to stock up your Bench with up to eight Dark Pokemon.
6Eternatus Vmax Shining Fates Shiny Vault $4.12
A Unique Find
Eternatus Vmax seems to get all the cool printings despite being only a single generation old. One of its best renditions isn’t even that expensive. This is the printing found inShining Fates: Shiny Vault. Once again, this printing of the card has the same Move and Ability as its other counterparts.
What makes this card special is the color palette, which is striking black and yellow, looking amazing on this Pokemon due to the sharp edges of its design. This results in a card that almost looks electrifying despite not depicting an Electric-type Pokemon. While not the money card of the set, it’s a treat to own.
5Eternatus Vmax Lost Origin Trainer Gallery $5.81
Chairman Rose Takes The Stage
Eternatus Vmax has yet another special printing, this time a special illustration that can be found as part of theLost Origin Trainer Gallery. This version of the card features Chairman Rose standing in front of Eternatus in its Eternamax form.
Like in the games, Chairman Rose plans to prevent a catastrophe that will occur in the far and distant future. To do so, he awakens Eternatus from its slumber, which might just result in the region being destroyed. While his motives may not make the most sense, it does make for one very pretty card art that is worth adding to your collection.
4Eternatus V Prize Pack Series $5.85
A Necessary Part Of The Combo
While many of the Vmax cards tend to get all the attention, Eternatus V also has some valuable printings. These range from full art to alternate depictions of Chairman Rose. The most valuable of the bunch is the one found as part of the Prize Pack Series.
These packs can only be obtained from competitive venues and come stamped with a special marking that indicates where they came from. This is usually a trainer holding up a Pokeball. Prize Pack cards are usually rarer due to the limited printings, even if other cards technically have a higher art rarity. You also have fewer opportunities to get these cards since most of the time, you can’t buy the packs directly.
3Radiant Eternatus $7.49
Move Aside Radiant Greninja
One card that became useful duringthe Sword and Shield era of the Pokemon TCGis Radiant Eternatus. This Dragon-type card has a useful Ability called Climactic Gate. This allows you to search your deck for two Vmax Pokemon and immediately play them on the Bench. The only downside is that your turn ends immediately after.
This card got the privilege of being reprinted in the Prize Pack Series, giving it a pretty nice rarity bump. Since you can only have one Radiant Pokemon in your deck, it also makes collecting a full set much easier. This is a must-have card for those who want the full collection of Radiant Pokemon.
2Eternatus Vmax Rainbow $7.52
From Darkness Comes Rainbows
Eternatus may be a Dark-type Pokemon in the TCG, but that doesn’t mean it can’t get colorful. The Darkness Ablaze set of the Pokemon TCG contains a rainbow rare printing of Eternatus Vmax which looks absolutely dazzling in the light.
While there isn’t much else that sets it apart from other printings of the card, Rainbow Rare cards make for excellent rarity bumps for when you want a bunch of shiny cards on the Bench. These cards may be easy to find being sold secondhand, however, they are also much harder to pull directly from packs. This is why rainbow rare cards are always so coveted in the Pokemon TCG.
1Eternatus Vmax Prize Pack Series $30.78
The Most Valuable Eternatus Card
While Eternatus may be retired from competition, the cards that remain in pristine condition end up rising in value over time. The most expensive Eternatus Vmax is not a special illustration, but a Prize Pack card.
This card has the same card art as the one found in Darkness Ablaze. The only difference is that, once again, it has the Prize Pack stamp on the right. While it stretches your Bench to hold up to eight Dark Pokemon and then Dread End is capable of doing 30 damage for each Dark in play, it’s no wonder this became a competitive card.
