8Primal Groudon EX $72.54
An Ancient Power Emerges
Mega Evolutions may be one of the greatest game mechanics ever introduced to the Pokemon franchise. For Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Groudon and Kyogre both got Mega Evolutions which transformed them into Primal versions of themselves.
Primal Groudon EX is the Pokemon TCG adaptation of Groudon’s new form. It features Groudon with molten magma coursing through its body. What makes this card unique from other Mega Evolution cards is that the rule boxes have a primal stone coating which also applies to the card name as well. It’s a unique printing that goes for a good sum if you have taken good care of it.
7Groudon EX Crystal Guardians $76.96
A 3D Render With Holo Foiling
Some of the coolest cards in the Pokemon TCG have old-school 3D-rendered Pokemon. It’s even better when they also have the classic holo foiling that gives each box a deeper depth to them. This Groudon was printed in the Crystal Guardians set of the Pokemon TCG.
Pokemon EX cardsfrom the past have a few special features, such as the card border also having the holo bubbles that usually remain within the card box. All the EX cards from the set have this feature and really make Groudon EX look fantastic. It is also a fairly expensive card if you buy it from the second-hand market.
6Groudon EX Hidden Legends $83.39
A Darker Groudon
Groudon EX has another retro printing in the Hidden Legends set of the Pokemon TCG. This Groudon card has the same holo border as its other rendition in Crystal Guardians. However, this version of the card has new Moves and a Pokebody that rivals it’s legendary brethren.
Mark of Antiquity is an interesting Pokebody that stops your opponent’s Kyogre and Rayquaza EX from attacking. This Pokemon not only dominates the others but also looks menacing while doing so with a card art that casts plenty of shadows on Groudon. Seeing this Pokemon emerging from the depths of the caldera would be a terrifying sight to behold.
5Primal Groudon EX Shiny Full Art $94.94
Primal Groudon Gets An Upgrade
Primal Groudon EX is a neat enough card already, but having a shiny version with special card art is even more valuable. This card can be found inthe Ancient Origins setand features Primal Groudon with a dark green color palette.
This Primal Groudon also has a few extra features that increase the value of the card. This includes a golden rule box and card border. This card also has a special interaction with Stadium cards, since it can do twice as much damage with its Gaia Volcano Move if one is on the field. This Pokemon craves to return to the Colosseum.
4Kyogre And Groudon Legend $97.04
The Land And Sea Combine
Kyogre and Groudon have a very unique printing that was released years before theTag Team era of the Pokemon TCG. These were two unique cards that merged together to form a whole picture. The top part depicts Kyogre while the bottom half depicts Groudon and the Pokemon’s Moves.
Each Pokemon has one unique move they can use depending on the Energy type you attach to it. If you choose Fighting Energy, then you may use Massive Eruption to discard the top five cards of your deck. For each Energy card you discard this way, it does 100 damage, which can lead to many one-hit knockouts.
3Team Magma’s Groudon EX $117.86
Team Magma’s Plan Realized
Team Magma’s Groudon EX from Double Crisis might just be the most beautiful printing for this Pokemon. However, despite the gorgeous card art, it is not the most expensive Groudon card. That does not mean that the card is worthless since it goes for over 100 dollars if you want one in good condition.
This card is special since it depicts the ultimate goal of Team Magma from the Hoenn region. Groudon is under their full control and ready to expand the land mass for Pokemon and people alike. Even if it throws the world out of balance. It features the Team Magma Admins along with other Pokemon such as Zangoose and Claydol preparing for battle.
2Groudon Shiny $150.00
Behold A Yellow Groudon
The Call of Legends set adds an even more expensive Groudon for collectors to find. This is a shiny yellow Groudon surrounded by a purple aura and swiping its claws at the player. The yellow color palette of shiny Groudon is a nice contrast from its usual red hue. This is one of the better-looking Shiny cards since the colors are so contrasting.
This card has an interesting Move that either mills cards from your opponent’s Deck or your own. Volcano Stomp costs four Energy and lets you deal 80 damage. You can then flip a coin to determine if you can discard four of your opponent’s cards from their deck or four from your own.
1Groudon EX Full Art $167.50
The Most Valuable Groudon Card
If you’re hoping to find the most valuable Groudon card then it can be found as part of the Dark Explorers set. This is a full art version of Groudon EX. The Pokemon has golden borders around its lines and in the background you can find shattered rock.
Seeing as Groudon is the ultimate Ground-type, it is only fitting that the card art not only captures its affinity for the Earth but also its size. Full art cards are always a treat since the art extends past the usual confines of the box and leaks into the Move text box. With a nice texture and gleaming golden effects, it’s no wonder this one goes for over $150 on the market.
