One of the best legendaries of all time comes from the Hoenn Region. This is Rayquaza who descends from the sky to put a stop to both Kyogre and Groudon’s fight. In thePokemon TCGRayquaza can go up to absurd prices, with some printings being some of the more expensive cards in the entire game.
Many Rayquazas are worth plenty of money with shiny printings, Mega Evolution power-ups, and full art cards going for hundreds of dollars on the market. So if you happen to have a spare Rayquaza in your collection, keep it safe. These are the eight most valuable Rayquaza cards in the Pokemon TCG.
Card values reflect the market value as seen onTCGPlayer.comand may be subject to fluctuation with time.
8M Rayquaza EX Full Art $163.81
Unleash The Power Of The Sky
As if Rayquaza couldn’t get any cooler than it already is, Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire gave the Legendary Pokemon of the sky a brand-new form. This form was printed into the Pokemon TCG inthe Roaring Skies set. Like other Mega Evolution cards, this one has a full art that covers most of the card’s body.
In addition, the card also features the Japanese text sprawling across the art and impact effects that go over the card borders. Seeing as this is one of the best Mega Evolutions, it’s only fitting that the card is so valuable. From here, the prices only go up.
7Rayquaza EX Delta Species $168.20
Lightning Strikes From The Sky
The Delta Species Pokemon are uniquein their mechanics. These printings often depict Pokemon that are one type and have them use an entirely different one. Other times, Delta Species Pokemon have more than one typing.
Delta Species Rayquaza from the Dragon Frontiers set turns Hoenn’s third legendary into an Electric-type. This card features a particularly scary Rayquaza surrounded by dark clouds and lightning. If you saw this thing descending from the sky in real life, it would be terrifying. An interesting feature that this card has is the borders of the card have a special reflective texture, while the card art box is made up of DNA helix shapes.
6Rayquaza EX $179.74
A Normal Rayquaza
Rayquaza prices just keep going up. In the Dragon set of the Pokemon TCG, a Colorless Rayquaza was released which has some unique properties. Rayquaza EX has a special holo card border that reveals sparkles when tilted in the light. It also has an E-Reader barcode on the bottom.
While it is a very pretty card art to look at some of the in-game features are also unique. For starters, Rayquaza is weak against other Colorless Pokemon which isn’t a matchup you see often. It also has Resistance to both Water and Fighting Pokemon. The Pokemon also uses both Fire and Electric Energy cards, which are more common with Dragon Pokemon in the TCG.
5Rayquaza EX Deoxys $184.92
A Dragon’s Might
Another Colorless printing of Rayquaza was released in the Deoxys set of the Pokemon TCG. This one may not be an E-Reader card but it is more valuable than the one from Dragon. This Pokemon has a nice swirling background which is coated in holo foiling. It captures more of the Pokemon’s likeness than the prior printing and even gives it a few new Moves.
Its Pokepower, Dragon Boost, lets you make use of all your current Energy in play by moving them from your other Pokemon to this card. This can get it ready to boost the power of Spiral Blast, which costs one Fire and one Electric Energy. It does 20 damage per Energy attached.
4M Rayquaza EX Shiny Full Art $211.83
A Premium Mega Evolution
Pokemon TCG’s Ancient Origins setcontains many rare and valuable cards that make this booster box a must-have for collectors. One card that makes its way up the value ladder is M Rayquaza EX’s shiny full art. The shiny Megas in this set all have a darker hue to them than their normal counterparts.
This one features a Mega Rayquaza that has a golden rule box and golden borders. The card art also inverts the colors of the Japanese text from yellow to green. This is a fantastic card to have in your collection and one that fans of the TCG are willing to pay for due to its rarity.
3Rayquaza Shiny Call Of Legends $299
A More Traditional Shiny
If you’re looking for a more traditional shiny Rayquaza, then one is available in the Call of Legends set. Shiny legendaries can sometimes have the most amazing color swaps of all time. To make Rayquaza even cooler than it already is, why not coat it in a sleek black color palette?
It seems like collectors think so too, because a copy of this card will run you almost $300. Even with that much money on the line, it is still not the most expensive Rayquaza of them all. This Pokemon has one Move called Inferno Spear. While the name sounds cool, it only does 100 damage for four Energy.
2Rayquaza VMAX Alternate Art $392.98
Rayquaza Gets Dynamaxed
Dynamaxing isn’t always the most impressive game mechanic. Any Pokemon can suddenly get big. However, the ones that look the coolest in this are the ones that resemble kaiju. Rayquaza VMAX has an alternate art secret rare printing in Evolving Skies that shows the Pokemon flying through the mountain tops.
This full art card may seem to be the most expensive Rayquaza card since it hits almost $400 in value. However, despite having amazing card art that captures the power of Rayquaza to the fullest, it still pales in comparison to a certain other card.
1Rayquaza Star $1740.00
Prepare To Empty Your Wallet
If you’re looking to dump a month’s rent on a Pokemon card, then this is the place to do it. Rayquaza Star has a market price of a whopping $1700. While some cards can still be bought for cheaper in other circumstances due to damage or use, the prices can actually go above the market price for twice as much.
This Rayquaza was released in the Deoxys expansion of the TCG. It features a shiny black Rayquaza on the card art surrounded by holo foiling. Its hand also exits the art box for a neat effect. Rayquaza’s name also has a star next to it.
