The Ruby suite ofDisney’s Lorcanacan be very fast and aggressive when it comes to playstyles. It makes for some dynamic cards, both in their abilities and in their artwork. And, depending on your reasons for wanting to know, and potentially buy, the most expensive cards, it can be about both. Or simply because you love the character and the look of the art.
The following are all the most valuable and wanted cards in the Ruby selection of characters. From classic Disney protagonists, antagonists, and even two movie deities. If you’re looking to collect Lorcana cards, there’s no better place to look, especially if you’re a fan of the red suite.
This list is based on the average market price shown onTCGPlayer.
10Captain Hook, Master Swordsman (Enchanted) - $55.95
Set Three, Into The Inklands
Captain Hook is aboard the Jolly Roger and is clearly at the height of fashion in this card. He stands proudly in front of a skull and crossbones, hook raised and ready to fight. This card was made to be the direct opposite of Peter Pan, Pirates Bane, so naturally, Hook has to be on guard and ready to strike down the boy who never grows up finally.
Although the stat block obscures the rest of the image, you can still see the bottom of his coat and legs through it, which isn’t always the case as some cards have blurred backgrounds behind them, depending on the image. It would be the gem in the center of anypirate-themed deck.
9Shere Khan, Menacing Predator (Enchanted) - $65.82
Set Two, Rise Of The Floodborn
Be careful, this card has claws. Shere Kahn or Disney’s animated version of The Jungle Book is featured on this card, set on a bright green background and surrounded by red and orange foliage, matching the colors of his fur and claws, which are extended, ready to strike.
It makes sense with this card’s ability, which rewards you with lore anytime one of your characters challenges an opponent’s. A lot of enchanted cards, for whatever reason, have characters set against darker backgrounds to make them stand out, but this bright color palette suits Shere Kahn well and makes this card stand out.
8Donald Duck, Pie Slinger (Enchanted) - $67.06
Set Five, Shimmering Skies
Speaking of cards with brighter backgrounds, this Donald Duck card features the beloved avian character standing on top of a pile of food, hoisting a pie proudly above his head. This is all with a smattering of flying food that races across the minty green and pastel pink background.
Although this card doesn’t show his rage, one of his abilities talks about it, giving him +6 to his strength if your opponent has ten or more lore. His six willpower is demonstrated with a silver pan strapped to him as armor that has saved him from a few pieces of food at least.
7Lady Tremaine, Imperious Queen (Enchanted) - $69.90
Lady Tremaine likely has few fans thanks to her treatment of Cinderella in the movie of the same name. But you have to admire how she wears villain on her sleeve with her blood-red gown and black, spikey collar in this enchanted card.
She’s set atop a white and gray background, assumedly in the castle, at least as the name of the card suggests. She isa Floodborncharacter, which in Lorcana means that she is meant to be shown in a way that depicts a different reality. And in this one? She’s a fierce, and probably not very fair, queen.
6Goofy, Super Goof (Enchanted) - $82.04
Set Four, Ursula’s Return
If you aren’t familiar with Super Goof, you don’t need to be to enjoy the card art. Keeping with the dark backgrounds, Goofy appears in his Super Goof attire, a hand reaching out toward the viewer with a black sky and bolts of red energy behind him. These shine beautifully on the card as it catches the light.
If you are familiar with Super Goof, you’re probably the reason this card is so valuable. Granted, Goofy has a lot of fans thanks to not just his involvement withthe Mickey Mouse and Friendsfranchise, but other appearances like oh, you know,Kingdom Hearts. But Super Goof was around long before that and now, thanks to this card, is immortalized in Lorcana as well.
5Peter Pan, Pirates Bane (Enchanted) - $82.31
Hey, remember when it was mentioned that Captain Hook, Master Swordsman has a Peter Pan opposite. Well, here he is, decked out in his pirate-looking gear, complete with a fashionable hat. He appears to be sitting on the edge of the Jolly Roger, hand on knee as he looks off.
Now, why he’s wearing pirate gear as the bane of the pirates, it’s not clear. Maybe he snuck on board the Jolly Roger in disguise or donned their gear to intimidate him. Whatever the reason, it’s a good look for Peter and changes up the formula of having him dressed in green all of the time.
4Aladdin, Heroic Outlaw (Enchanted) - $99.46
Set One, The First Chapter
Everyone’s favorite street rat stays for the streets in this Floodborn depiction of him hanging from the top of a crumbling building, bread in hand, similar to the beginning of the animated Aladdin movie. His cape bellows behind him and the orange sky makes this a beautiful and dynamic card to collect.
He may also be so valuable because this card was in the first Lorcana set released. Whether it’s because of how few people were able to get their hands on the cards, or just the suave street urchin turned prince and hero. Either way, you’ll have to hand over nearly $100 for this card. Can you imagine how many loaves of bread he could buy with that kind of funding?
3Sisu, Empowered Sibling (Enchanted) - $105.26
This card is a spoiler for Raya and the Last Dragon, but if you’ve seen the movie, that may elevate the value and meaning behind this variant of Sisu. But that’s not the only reason this card is worth so much. Sisu is a powerful force to deal with in a match of Lorcana is you play cards that support her ability, I Got This!
Beyond her strength in the game, this card has a black background, making Sisu completely separate from the negative space and allowing her to appear translucent. Not completely, but enough to resemble her watery-form. And you’ll be sure to smile when you see the positive look on her face, whether she’s kept separate from other cards in a collection or shuffled into your deck.
2Robin Hood, Sharpshooter (Enchanted) - $106.45
Robin Hood isn’t new to the valuable enchanted treatment, and hisSteel card from Into The Inklandscosts quite a bit more. However, it’s hard to imagine why when you see the beautiful way this anthropomorphic fox is illustrated. The dynamic pose that Robin Hood is in as he floats through the air, bowstring pulled back, ready to fire two arrows.
And that isn’t even getting into the beautiful use of color in the background of the card, including a bokeh light effect of red, purple, green, and white spots that scatter across the middle of the card. He may not be the most valuable card in the Ruby suite, but he certainly deserves every cent.
1Maui, Hero To All (Enchanted) - $217.14
Of course, Maui is number one; after all, he’s a demigod who reminds anyone who listens to You’re Welcome for fun. This card shows Maui rushing ahead, hook in hand, as he outruns something. Perhaps Te Kā? The background isn’t made clear enough to tell. Though it’s not like he hasn’t had his share of adventures.
There are several reasons this card is worth as much as it is. He’s fromThe First Chapter of Lorcana. He’s a beloved character, voiced by The Rock no less. And this strong art is bound to intimidate your enemies as soon as they see him. The reason, however, doesn’t matter, it’s whatever worth you assign to the card.
