The Sims franchise is indeed dead.
A big reason EA decided not to go forward with The Sims 5 was to avoid a complete restart, believing that fans would be upset losing all of the progress made in the last decade with each expansion and stuff pack, not to mention the money sunk into buying it all.
This is a sentiment some do agree with in the community, as evident byanother top post, “I’m okay with no Sims 5,” in which the poster says that it would “be a shame for us to get a barebones game” that we have to “wait for them to build up again,” but not everyone is in agreement with this sentiment.
Some Fans Want To Start Over With A New Foundation
“You don’t have to restart though, you don’t have to buy the new game and no one is coming for your old one,” reads one reply. “I genuinely don’t understand why we can’t have both — a new game for people to enjoy [if] they wish while people who don’t want to ‘restart’ can continue playing Sims 4.”
Another commenter added, “You don’t need to restart, you may keep playing TS4. I’ve been playing TS3. So if they did a TS5, nothing would change. It’s been ten years and the game is worse than ever.”
Wherever you land, one thing is clear —putting all of the focus on The Sims 4 is an incredibly controversial move, which isn’t too surprising given that The Sims 4 is one of the more controversial entries. But hey, we can always just go back and keep playing TS3, eh?
