The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdomis a much more customizable experience compared to previous 2D Zelda games, and this can be mostly accredited to the wide range of Echoes that Zelda can use to aid her in combat and exploration. However, there is even more depth to customizing the princess with her accessories.
Compared to the outfits, there is a much wider scope of accessories available, and these can be used to add buffs to Zelda to help you out in specific areas. These can be quest rewards or bought in shops, but they aren’t created equal. So, out of all the accessories that Zelda can equip, which are the best?
7Survey Scope
Monster Materials
As you work through Echoes of Wisdom, you’ll quickly realizethat smoothies are one of the most useful tools to ensure that Zelda stays alive in tougher fights. Since the princess is less capable of directly defending herself thanks to the reliance on summons, you’ll need to have a healthy bank of drinks to buff and heal her.
The best way to keep up your smoothie supply is to have plenty of materials to make them with, and if you want more materials to be dropped in the wild, then equipping the Survey Scope will ensure that you are getting a consistent supply of ingredients.
6First Mastery
Energy Consumption Down
The Slumber Dojo is one of theeasier-to-miss featuresin Echoes of Wisdom, but if you check out the training area, you can get some great rewards for taking part in the trials. One of the best is an accessory that lowers your energy consumption.
In tricky fights, you’ll want to join the fray with your summons by using the Sword of Might to empower the princess, but if you don’t have a high level of energy, this experience can be cut off early. Using this accessory will ensure you get more time using the sword’s abilities, and the accessory can even be leveled up to make it even more effective.
5Heart Barrette
Heart Appearance Up
One of the easier accessories to miss will require returning to Gerudo Town after Zelda can come out of hiding. If you help out a beetle-phobic guard with her quest, she’ll reward you with the Heart Barrette, which is the perfect tool to keep Zelda healthy while exploring.
This simple accessory will increase the frequency of hearts showing up after disposing of enemies and cutting grass, so this means that worrying about our heroes' health is less of a persistent problem, whether you’re in the middle of a boss or exploring a particularly dangerous area.
4Climbing Band
Climbing Speed Up
Climbing is one of the more intuitive methods of exploration in Echoes of Wisdom, thanks to how smooth it feels to clamber over the rocky walls as Zelda. However, sometimes climbing can be a little slower than you’d like, especially when dodging falling obstacles on Eldin Mountain.
This is why it’s worth equipping the Climbing Band when you’re exploring areas that require precise climbing, since it will increase how quickly Zelda moves when she is on the wall. This is an accessory you’ll only want to equip circumstantially, so don’t keep it equipped when you’re in an area with little climbing needed.
3Gerudo Sandals
Quicksand Immunity
When exploring the desert corner of Hyrule, you’ll quickly notice that some areas are covered in slightly darker-colored sand. This quicksand will suck in your summons and the princess herself if they’re static, and it’ll slow down your normal movements too.
This is frustrating during standard exploration, but it gets even more dangerous when it’s present during fights and even worse when it’s used during certain boss encounters. To avoid this sand being an active threat, you’ll want to invest in the Gerudo Sandals, as they will make you completely immune to the effects of quicksand. Just make sure you save enough to buy them before the final boss of Gerudo Town.
2Zora Scale
Longer Dive Time
In previous Zelda games, you’ll need to unlock a specific item to be able to swim underwater, but Echoes of Wisdom cuts down on the effort by giving you the ability to swim and dive as soon as the game starts. However, you’ll still be limited by Zelda’s pesky need to breathe air.
If you’re in a dungeon that requires frequent underwater exploration or in one of the surprisingly common swimming battles, then you’ll want to track down the Zora Scale, which will increase how long our hero can stay undersea without needing to emerge for air or desperately find a bubble.
1Ancient Charm
Damage Reduction
The Eastern Temple is one of the easier-to-miss areas in Echoes of Wisdom, and it’s easy to forget about if you don’t know what’s hiding inside. This temple hides a secret mini-dungeon that a cowardly archaeologist will task you with exploring on his behalf.
Inside, you’ll need to redirect electric enemies and beat a wholly new mini-boss to make it to the end of the dungeon. Once you complete the side quest, you’ll be rewarded with, arguably, the most useful accessory, the Ancient Charm, which reduces the damage Zelda takes.
