Pokemon TCG Pockethas countless cards to choose from. One type that isn’t as meta but has plenty of potential is the Fighting-type. These cards offer plenty of stopping power for when you need to take down your opponent’s most powerful Pokemon in one hit. They also have plenty of ways to spread damage counters everywhere.
It’s safe to say that Fighting-type Pokemon pack a punch. If you build a deck revolving around them, you’ll be focusing on putting the squeeze on your opponent. As you build your dream Fighting deck, here are the best Fighting-type cards to keep an eye on in Pokemon TCG Pocket.
8Primeape
Don’t Anger Primeape
Primeape may not be your first choice of Fighting-type card in Pokemon TCG Pocket. However, it can deal a good punch under the right circumstances. Fight Back does a maximum of 100 damage if Primeape has any damage counters on it.
The only downside to this is that Primeape needs to be hit first to do the most damage. This could make it tricky if your opponent knocks out half its health in one Move. Luckily, it has a Retreat Cost of one, so it can also get out of the way if its HP gets too low.
7Machamp
The Benefits Of Non-ex Pokemon
Machamp may have a weaker punch and lower HP than its ex counterpart, but there are some benefits for going with this Pokemon instead. Machamp can deal 100 damage with Seismic Toss, which is sure to knock out any Pokemon in two hits.
Meanwhile, Machamp has a decent 150 HP to keep itself on the field. Its greatest advantage is that by not being an ex card, your opponent will only get one point for knocking it out. This means that they’ll have to work harder if they want to score the three points needed to win the match. This gives you more time to strike back and score some points of your own.
6Hitmonlee
Give Your Opponent A Kick
Hitmonlee has the flaw of not being able to hit your opponent’s Active Pokemon. However, for one Energy, it can hit your opponent’s Bench for 30 damage using Stretch Kick. This can put the squeeze on your opponent if you manage to open Hitmonlee in your starting hand.
The fact that it only needs one Energy also means it can start attacking early in the game to stop your opponent from setting up or weakening their completed team. It also has a Retreat Cost of one, making it fairly simple to switch it out when the need arises. So, this card can be used effectively despite its lack of a Move that hits the Active Pokemon.
5Kabutops
HP Regeneration
Straight from the Stone Age, Kabutops has one killer Move that might be low on power but will suck your opponent dry. With one Energy, Kabutops can use Leech Life. This deals 50 damage and then heals the same amount to itself.
This is an interesting wording because there is no set amount that it can heal. So, if you power up its Move using a card like Giovanni, it will heal 60 instead, since 60 damage was done to your opponent. This makes it a good card with plenty of potential, as it weakens your opponent while strengthening itself.
4Golem
A Good Golem Card?
Golem cards in the Pokemon TCG usually don’t have the greatest reputation. In Pokemon TCG Pocket, that tide may turn. Golem is a Stage two Pokemon with an expensive Move and Retreat Cost, each requiring four Energy.
Luckily, Golem can take advantage of Brock’sEnergy accelerationto hit these numbers once it is on the field. Double-Edge does a whopping 150 damage while doing 50 damage to itself. This Move, however, is good enough to knock out many Pokemon in one hit and only gets better with any damage-enhancing cards like Giovanni. It’s a risky play to set up, but it can put your opponent in a frenzy if you pull it off.
3Grapploct
Knock Your Opponent Back
Grapploct is a Pokemon so strong it will send your opponent’s Pokemon flying back to the Bench over and over again. This is because its Kock Back Move switches your opponent’s Active Pokemon for one on their Bench.
The only downside to this is that your opponent gets to choose which of their Benched Pokemon to bring out. In the early game, you can use this to strike at your opponent while they are weak. However, later in the game, using this Move twice in a row will just let them get their good Pokemon back in the Active Spot. So, use this card wisely, as it can prove devastating to your opponent.
2Marowak Ex
One Of The Best Hitters
Marowak ex is a common choice for Fighting-type decks. This is because Marowak ex has a decent HP of 140 for a Stage one Pokemon. It also has an inexpensive Retreat Cost of one. Where it can get really good or really bad is with its Move, Bonemerang.
Bonemerang is reliant on flipping two coins. For each head that you land on, Marowak ex will do 80 damage. With 160 damage being the maximum damage output, it’sworth the risk of flipping coins. You either have enough power to strike down a weaker Pokemon, or you might just be able to knock out some of the strongest Pokemon in the game.
1Machamp Ex
The Common Choice
Machamp ex is a common choice of Pokemon when creating a Fighting-type deck. 180 HP gives it plenty of staying power so that your opponent will have a hard time trying to knock it out in one hit. In fact, it might even last three hits before going down.
Mega Punch also does 120 damage for three Energy, making it a decent Move despite not having any other effects. This is the raw power of the Fighting-type Pokemon and sometimes the simplest strategies are the ones that will put the most pressure on your opponent. So go big and take the victory one punch at a time.
