Pokemon TCG Pockethas plenty of Grass-type Pokemon, from fast-hitting insects to titans that will continuously heal themselves. Never underestimate the power of a Grass-type Pokemon when they manage to achieve their highest Evolution.

Even Basic Grass-types offer a way to cut through the competition or even hold your opponent’s Pokemon down while you chip away at their health. So if you’re looking to make a Grass deck that can net you some more wins, there are plenty of choices to go with that can compliment your playstyle perfectly. And yes, Bug-types are considered Grass here.

8Beedrill

A Powerful Sting

Compared to other Grass-type Pokemon in Pokemon TCG Pocket, Beedrill doesn’t have any fancy abilities or game-changing Moves. However, it does have decent health for a Stage two Pokemon and a Move that only costs one Grass Energy to perform.

Sharp Sting will do 70 damage each time it hits. While not the greatest, it does mean you can set it up quickly if you choose to go down the Beedrill route. This Pokemon also has a Retreat Cost of one, making it fairly easy to switch out if the going gets tough. So for what it is, it’s not bad at all if you want toswarm your opponent.

7Vileplume

Keep Your Opponent Asleep

Vileplume is a Stage two Pokemon with 140 HP and a Move that can be used for some tricky tactics. Soothing Scent does a decent 80 damage, but the real kicker is what happens after. The Pokemon that gets hit with this Move is guaranteed to be put to Sleep.

While your opponent will need toflip a cointo see if their Pokemon will wake up, your ability to keep doing this each turn is an excellent stall tactic that can win you the game. This can make Vileplume really annoying to get rid of. The fact that Vileplume is not a Pokemon ex also means that if your opponent takes it down, they only get to score one point.

6Exeggutor ex

A Heavy Hitter With Good HP

The more HP a Pokemon has, the longer it will last. Besides the Venusaur cards, Exeggutor ex is one of the Grass-typePokemon with the most HP. On a Stage one Pokemon, 160 HP is pretty good; it can withstand multiple hits from even the strongest opponents.

Tropical Swing only requires one Energy, making it simple to set up on the board. While it only does 40 damage, you have a fifty percent chance of dealing 80 damage instead. Combined with its good HP, Exeggutor is bound to get a few good hits in; it can even bring down multiple Pokemon before your opponent knocks it out.

5Pinsir

A Basic Beater

Pinsir may not have the highest health, but it can land a decent blow or two if luck is on your side. As a Basic Pokemon, you don’t need to do any setup besides getting Energy onto it. With 90 health, it is a great early game card to use when you want to withstand the blows of weaker Basic Pokemon.

Double Horn costs two Energy to use and is reliant on a coin flip. At its best, it can deal 100 damage and instantly knock out many Stage one and Stage Two Pokemon. At its worst, you completely miss the attack. However, the odds of at least getting one head out of two are pretty decent.

4Victreebel

A Trap For Your Opponent

Victreebel is not usually the Pokemon you would think has a killer Ability, but it does have a way to drag out weaker Pokemon for it to knock out. Fragrance Trap can only be used if Victreebel is in the Active Spot, but it lets you switch out your opponent’s Pokemon for one of their Basic ones on the Bench.

This can be a useful way to take down any Pokemon that hasn’t Evolved yet. Its one Move, Vine Whip, also has just enough damage output to take down many Pokemon that become threats down the line, such as Charmander, Staryu, and Froakie, in only one hit.

3Butterfree

A Healing Ally

When it comes to choosing which bug to catch in the Viridian Forest, Caterpie is always the better choice. In Pokemon TCG Pocket, the same rule applies. Butterfree may not do as much damage, with Gust only doing 60 for three Energy, but its Ability will make sure your Pokemon can heal from battle and fight longer.

Powder Heal heals 20 damage from all of your Pokemon each turn. This includes Active Pokemon and Benched Pokemon. Butterfree also has a Retreat Cost of one, meaning that it can get out of harm’s way fairly easily after it is done, providing care for your Pokemon and landing a few hits along the way.

2Lilligant

An Abundance Of Grass Energy

Lilligant is a Stage one Pokemon with a Move that will help you power up your Grass-based deck. It’s not difficult to set this Pokemon up, and if you have it in the Active Spot, you can use Leaf Supply to deal 50 damage and get an extra Grass Energy from your Energy Zone.

This is a fantastic method of Energy acceleration in Grass decks and can help you meet the quota for Pokemon with Moves that cost three or more Energy. This can mean getting your Venusaur ready to do some real damage or getting Vileplume ready to start stalling your opponent by putting Pokemon to Sleep.

1Venusaur ex

A Mighty Ace Pokemon

Venusaur ex has plenty of details that make it the best Grass Pokemon in Pokemon TCG Pocket. It has 190 HP, which is the highest of all the cards in the game. This card also has two Moves that give it some versatility if it comes into play too early.

For three Energy, Razor Leaf will do a good 60 damage, which is perfect for dealing with weak Basic Pokemon. Giant Bloom, on the other hand, costs just one Energy more but deals 100 damage. This can easily knock out any Pokemon in only two hits. It also heals 30 damage from itself each time it uses this Move, effectively making Venusaur the perfect damage sponge.
