Turn-based RPGs are well-known for often including ‘super moves’ that are distinguished from the rest of your standard moves by having a higher cost but usually better results.Metaphor: ReFantaziois no different, with its use of synthesis skills, which are accessed depending on specific combinations of archetypes being present on the battlefield.

Unlike other RPGs, these skills are unlocked quite casually alongside a new archetype being used and are sometimes easy to overlook, thanks to just how many there are to choose from. With such a wide variety, and so many being unlocked so frequently, which are the ones you should be using?

Devil Summoner archetype using Hadean Icecrag skill from Metaphor_ ReFantazio.

7Hadean Icecrag

Devil Summoner Archetype

The Summoner archetype lineage is one of the best for dealing high elemental damage, with the only real limit being the summons that you have unlocked and the high MP cost of each summon. However, the synthesis skills are surprisingly low-cost, usually being similar to the MP cost of the standard skills, so they’re worth trying out.

One of the most simple and effective synthesis skills you’ll unlock when you have leveled the archetype up to the Devil Summoner is Hadean Icecrag. This powerful magic attack will deal extreme ice damage to all the enemies on the field, so ensure none of them will block, absorb, or repel this element if you have multiple targets.

Samurai archetype using Crimson Moon Sword Art from Metaphor_ ReFantazio.

6Crimson Moon Sword Art

Samurai Archetype

One of the best archetypes for dealing high amounts of physical slashing damage is the Samurai, the elite archetype in the Warrior lineage. Once you have unlocked this final stage in the lineage, you’ll have access to not just some fantastic standard attacks but some of the most useful synthesis skills as well.

There are plenty ofoptions for this archetype, but the one that you’ll often find yourself going for is the Crimson Moon Sword Art. Not only does this skill hit all of the enemies with severe slashing damage, but it also has the chance to charm enemies as well. With charm being one of the best effects, thanks to how it’ll turn the enemy on themselves for a turn or two, this skill is well worth using.

Tycoon archetype using All Reset skill from Metaphor_ ReFantazio.

5All Reset

Tycoon Archetype

The Merchant lineage is one of the trickier archetype lines to master (which islikely why More tasksyou with using it, since otherwise most people would avoid trying it out), but if you make the effort to unlock the elite archetype in this lineage; the Tycoon, then you’ll have access to some of the most unique synthesis skills in the game.

While there are some more aggressive skills that will drain your wallet in exchange for big damage, the All Reset ability is one of the more overpowered in both boss and standard encounters. It will not just debuff all enemies on the field but get rid of any beneficial effects. This can include shields, repels, and even some charging up moves.

Prince archetype using Royal Blade skill from Metaphor_ ReFantazio.

4Royal Sword

Prince Archetype

The first royal archetype you’ll unlock in Metaphor: ReFantazio will be the Prince, which can only be used by our hero, and one of the best aspects of this archetype is the wide variety of synthesis skills it will give you access to.

While this archetype gives you plenty of choice, likely the best option is the archetype’s signature synthesis skill: Royal Blade. It will do severe physical almighty damage against its opponents, but it will also increase the damage against human-type enemies, which are particularly common in the late-game.

Paladin archetype using Peerless Sanctity skill from Metaphor_ ReFantazio.

3Peerless Sanctity

Paladin Archetype

The Knight archetype is one of the more awkward archetypes to get to grips with when you unlock it in the early-game, thanks to its slightly complicated passive skill set. However, if you work it out and level up this line of archetypes, you’ll unlock the Paladin, which has some of the best synthesis skills in the game.

One of these synthesis skills is Peerless Sanctity, which will deal severe light damage to every enemy, but will also lower all of their stats for three turns as well. This is effective to use on the first turn against a group of enemies, especially if they’re weak to light damage.

Persona Master using Masquerade Charge skill from Metaphor_ ReFantazio.

2Masquerade Charge

Persona Master Archetype

The Persona Master is one of the most versatile archetypes in the game, thanks to all of the different masks that are at your disposal. In spite of this, the Persona Master has a more limited pool of synthesis skills, but the ones it does have can be very helpful.

For example, if you have built your party to focus more on physical attacks, with characters like Strohl and Basilio, then buffing them using Masquerade Charge can lead to a massive damage output. This skill will increase the power of all party members' physical attacks, making it an efficient method of supporting the party.

Destroyer archetype using Deadly Eraser skill from Metaphor_ ReFantazio.

1Deadly Eraser

Destroyer Archetype

Longer boss fights and bounty battles can be pretty tough, thanks to how many buffs the opponents can layer on themselves to push you into a corner with which moves you can use. There are some ways to counter this, but they can often require multiple moves and different party members.

However, if you have access to the Destroyer archetype, you’ll be able to save time and deal a lot of damage by instead just using Deadly Eraser. On top of the severe physical almighty damage to the target, it will also remove strength buffs, and even destroy repel shields as well.
