The Witcher 3: Wild Hunthas a couple of different endings depending on your actions throughout the game, but the majority of fans seethe ending that has Ciri becoming a witcher and traveling with Geralt as the game’s best. Geralt tells Emhyr Var Emreis that Ciri died preventing the White Frost from destroying everything, when in fact she’s totally fine and waiting for Geralt at the White Orchard Inn.
It’s a very wholesome ending in which everyone lives happily ever after,and could potentially be a launching point for The Witcher 4, but it turns out The Witcher 3 has been hiding an alternate version of this ending for a while. First reported byGamesRadar, a modder by the name of MerigoldMaribor recently discovered several lines of dialogue that appear to have been cut from this ending, and has restored them for all to see.
In a video from YouTube user MasterKing, we can see that Ciri has new voice lines upon seeing the silver sword that Geralt gifts her. Upon removing the sword from its scabbard, Ciri says “A witcher’s sword… Swallow”, followed up by a very child like “Oooooo.” Lines from Geralt then appear to have been cut, and then Ciri says “The Path awaits. Come on.” before a cut to black.

Rather interestingly, further cut voice lines also reveal exactly where Ciri and Geralt are headed after the game ends. Right at the end of the video, Geralt mentions that “Yen/Triss awaits in Ellander”, depending on which of the two the player romances, followed by Ciri claiming that “We can meet her in two days if we hurry.” It’s not the most astonishing dialogue, but it does reveal that Ciri and Geralt head to Temeria once the credits roll.
These cut voice lines are just one of the things that modders have found following the release of the REDKit modding tools. Earlier this month, modders found evidence ofa scrapped ending that had Yennefer betraying the Lodge of Sorceressesto find Ciri following the fight against The Wild Hunt towards the end of the game. Judging from this new discovery, it seems as though there’s a lot more to uncover.
