Summary

The Witcherisn’t exactly something you can share with your kids. I mean, I guess you can, in fairness. You can let them run around as Geralt inThe Witcher 3and take the controller away before they get to any of the naughty bits. But for the most part, all aspects of this series - books, games, andNetflix shows- are only suitable for adults.

However, that’s about to change very soon. The Little Witcher is a collection of comics that focus on Geralt as he raises Ciri, and unlike the source material, it is actually suitable for all audiences. It’s an official release too, coming fromCD Projekt Red, with Giada Carboni illustrating the stories.

The Little Witcher Is A Witcher Book For All Ages

“Young Ciri’s extensive training at Kaer Morhen, the witchers’ stronghold, includes everything she needs to learn to survive the many threats in her world . . . as well as all the antics and fun of a little girl bonding with her adoptive dad and family,” reads the book’s synopsis.

“With help from Geralt and Ciri’s closest companions—including the motherly magic of Yennefer of Vengerberg and the wisdom of uncle Vesemir—these adorable tales of a non-traditional family will make you laugh, make you sigh, and make you realize that raising a Little Witcher is not that different from raising any other kid.”

Unsurprisingly, the book appears to be primarily aimed at parents who are into The Witcher, rather than their kids. That makes sense - it would be a little hard to explain to them why they can read these comics, but can’t boot up The Witcher 3. Still, it sounds utterly adorable, as I think we all know Dad-Geralt has the capacity to be.

The Little Witcher will be out next year on May 13.

The Witcher

Geralt of Rivia is a witcher, a hunter bred for killing monsters through a series of mutations that give him superhuman abilities. His destiny becomes entwined with that of a young princess, Ciri of Cintra. Andrzej Sapkowski’s six novels and numerous short stories have served as the basis for a series of video games by CD Projekt Red, and a hit TV show produced by Netflix.
