The platforming world ofDisney Epic Mickey: Rebrushedtakes you on a journey where Mickey gets dragged into a world he accidentally ruined by dropping a lot of magical thinner into a magical world and creating a giant monster. The little mouse has to fight for his life as soon as he gets dragged in.
You’ll fight enemies ranging from little Blotlings to giant monsters like clockwork itself while discovering various secret places. However, if you want to have an easier time getting past it, these tips will help you out.
Swing At Everything You See
As soon as you can control Mickey in the new world, the first instinct will likely be to use your Spin Attack at everything you possibly can. You’ll commonly see items with a glowing boundary on them, andthese items can be destroyed with an attack to get some tickets. However, it might not be as obvious that you can also attack stationed guards, lamp posts, and other items.
Moreover, if you’ve lost a few hearts from your health, breaking these items will give you one or more of these back. If you’re in a new area, it’s ideal to save some of the breakable items while you explore in case you need health urgently. Though these do respawn a few minutes after you break them as well.
It can get a little repetitive to break these items after a bit, but it’shighly recommended to keep goingsince you’ll need a lot of these tickets.
The first major point where you use your tickets unlocks after reaching Mean Streat sincethere are a couple of vendors here who give you collectibles for the right price. Even if you have over 2,000 tickets saved up, they can get used up quite fast in these areas.
Don’t Worry About Paint Depleting
After you progress just a bit through the main areas, you’ll unlock yourmain ability to use thinner and paint through the brush in your hand. Thinner can be used to remove the colors from various objects in the world and make them transparent while paint can be used to do the exact opposite.
You’ll see your storage for both of these in the bottom left and bottom right of your screen, which depletes quite fast if you use it regularly. Thankfully, the game is lenient when it comes to this and you don’t have to worry about these storages depleting since they can automatically regenerate one bar.
You’ll stop shooting the paint/thinnerwhen you run out before the storage automatically refillsa bit.
When you don’t have maximum storage for either of these, it’s also quite common to getextra storage drops when you destroy items or use paint/thinneron a structure. Moreover, you can increase your capacity for one of these items during each boss battle depending on what you use to defeat it.
If you defeat the boss largely with thinner, you’ll get an extra bar for the thinner storage, and you’re able to do the same for paint.
You Can Increase Your Double Jump Length
This is likely one of the best tricks you’ll learn in this game as it can immensely help you with platforming in both 2D and 3D planes. Whenever you perform a spin attack, you’ll notice that Mickey jumps a little higher from the ground. Thisspin attack can also be performed while you’re in midair, allowing for an interesting mechanic.
You can essentially use the spin attack in midair to slightlyincrease the overall length of your double jump. There are two ways of doing this:
In our experience, thesecond method serves a little better overallsince you can be more consistent with it.
This extra height can help you reach places that’d generally be a little tough ormaybe even impossible to reachwithout following a different path.
You Can Press The Paint And Thinner
One mechanic that the game doesn’t necessarily tell you about is the ability to justpress the paint or thinner button when the structure you’re aiming for is near you. With just one click, you may paint/thin the entire part of the structure, and this can even be done in midair if you press the button at the right time.
This can be especially useful if you’re playing on a controller since itcan be rough to aim at the right spots at certain angles. While this does deplete a significant amount of your storage, it doesn’t matter much since the storage never runs out, as mentioned above.
There Are A Lot Of Secret Places
One thing that Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed doesn’t shy away from is the presence of various hidden locations in every single area you visit. There areover 100 pins and concept art each that you can collectthroughout the game, which means that you’ll essentially find at least a couple of these in each section.
It’s highly recommended to check every corner possible and thin outevery suspicious wall or ground that could be hiding a secret behind it. You might also be able to see some red chests locked behind see-through doors, and you generally have to solve a puzzle or make a specific choice to get these.
Red chests will likely always give you pins, whilehidden areas can have both concept art and pinsbehind them.
Choices Can Make A Big Difference
Talking about choices, this is another aspect of the game that can heavily impact your gameplay. You start getting choices quite early in the game from the second main area you visit itself. In this area, you’ll get to choose between a chest sitting on a pressure plate or the caged Gremlinsince you can only have one.
If you choose to save the Gremlin, the chest will be locked up and you’ll have to proceed to the next area. Since the game doesn’t have any manual save system, it’s likely thatyou can only choose the other option in a separate playthrough. While this first choice might not have a huge impact, some choices further into the game can.
For example, choosing what you do withPete’s Log Book after getting it can change your interactionson Mean Street.
Pay Attention While 2D Platforming
Whenever you switch from one main area to another in Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, you’ll have to go through a projector screen thattakes you to some 2D platforming known as Side-Scrolling levels. These are likely some of the most challenging interactions you’ll have while playing this game.
Not only can some of them be particularly hard to beat, but most of them have hidden collectibles that you have to keep an eye out for. Each side-scrolling level has two Film Reels that you’re able to collect, but these are also usually hidden in secret places. This makes it important to pay attention while you’re in one of these.
Thankfully, you don’t have to worry if you miss a collectible or a Film Reel in thesesince you can go back through the cinemain Mean Street.
These Film Reels can be submitted to the NPC outside the cinema for somegenerous rewards including pins and costumes.
Don’t Miss Out On Side Quests
When you open the main menu while playing Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, you’ll notice asection for quests that has main, side, completed, and failed quests in it. While you only have to do the main quests to progress in the story, it’s also important to do the side quests, especially if you’re a completionist.
Most of these side quests will give you a collectible, while some can also giveother useful items like Power Sparks once you’re past Mean Street. You might also not be able to return to the quest’s area once you’ve gone past it so it’s highly recommended to do them when you can.
