Summary

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6updates the formula and brings some new things to the table. The campaign somehow gets even more out there than Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare 3 combined, and Multiplayer and Zombies are back to the more classic round-based Black Ops standards with a few twists.

To even the most devout CoD fans, some of what Black Ops 6 has in store across its modes will be like entering a whole new world, especially Campaign. Here are some of the things you should know before setting off on your next journey in the Black Ops saga of Call of Duty.

8Complete All Safehouse Puzzles And Continue Collecting Money To Upgrade It

Like in Black Ops Cold War, you have a Safehouse base, which here would be The Rook. This location was seized from the KGB by Adler and Woods, and it’s a giant estate in Bulgaria.

However, instead of just examining the evidence board for missions, you may explore every inch of the building and there are helpful upgrades, like the Weapons Bench, Gear Station, and Training Area, that you can purchase and install with money.

While exploring the Safehouse, you’ll notice right away there are puzzle rooms, something you wouldn’t expect in a Call of Duty game; yet here they are. The boiler room puzzle, piano puzzle, and radio signal puzzle, with the aid of your blacklight, are needed for opening The Rook’s safe, which gives you $1000.

You should also be sure to unlock safes in the main missions and always look out for loose cash to pick up.

7Stealth Is Your Best Friend In Campaign

Sometimes, stealth is encouraged for certain parts of missions in Call of Duty campaigns, but Black Ops 6 really makes stealth a key component of its campaign. As the second mission with Sev will show, and then the follow-up one, where you get a camera to tag enemies and can drag their bodies out of sight in the Bill Clinton gala, it’s more like Call of Duty: Hitman Edition.

Even on the regular difficulty setting, dealing with lots of enemies gets pretty chaotic and tough, resulting in you getting K.I.A. many times over. It’s best to clear as many as you can using all methods of stealth available to you, whether the silenced weapons you have equipped, stealth takedowns, or throwing knives.

6Beware Mini-Boss Enemies And Utilize Your Equipment Wheel In Campaign

While you know to toss the occasional flashbang or frag grenade, Black Ops 6 gives you an Equipment Wheel that has tactical gadgets like the explosive RC-XD car, Tranquilizer Traps, and a Mortar Strike, among others. Sure, you’ll sometimes have no choice but to use some of them to complete objectives, but you should also be strategizing and swapping them out in new mission zones.

The game likes to throw heavier, armored mini-boss enemies at you that will require lots of ammo to take down, and they deal lots of damage, and that’s on top of the normal enemies spraying bullets all around you. These situations get quite intense and frustrating, so make sure you utilize all you have at your disposal, even if sometimes only using your gun might prove enough.

5There’s An Arachnophobia Mode For Zombies

Call of Duty Zombies is no stranger to including spider enemies in its Zombies mode, like the onesin Black Ops 3’s Zetsubou No Shima map, but the ones Black Ops 6 has in store are another level of horror entirely. They’re something like if Dead Space’s Necromorphs had a spider variation. But luckily, if you’re terrified of the design, you can toggle Arachnophobia Mode.

Black Ops 6 joins the latest gamesthat aim to ease players' phobias, and what turning on Arachnophobia Mode does is remove the legs from this zombie type and leave only a floating head and body. This actually makes the design quite a bit funnier and will hopefully prevent you from squirming in your gaming chairs.

4Learn The Easter Eggs In The New Zombies Maps

As is the tradition with Zombies mode, especially for a Black Ops entry, secret Easter egg objectives return. Black Ops 6 comes with two new maps at launch, which are called Terminus and Liberty Falls. They havesome of the most interesting and unique Easter eggsto uncover that you don’t want to miss out on.

One will literally make it rain down zombies from the sky, and you can collect free loot from them as they drop. The main Easter egg on the Terminus map has an interesting giant boss enemy in store for you at the end, and another in Liberty Falls requires you to shoot bowling shoes all across the map. Doing these will also result in some worthwhile rewards.

3You Have Detailed Zombies HUD Settings And Movement Settings

The Zombies modes of newer Call of Duty titles look nothing like the Zombies of the past games, especially the first three Black Ops titles from Treyarch, and that might put you off. While Black Ops 6 tries its hardest to seem like a return to form, the UI and overall design still look very different from the traditional style, the health bars on the enemies perhaps being the worst part.

With the extensive HUD settings for Zombies and Multiplayer, you can tweak things drastically and personalize the Zombies HUD to best match your needs, which means getting rid of the health bars, using the preset for the Classic HUD with traditional tally marks for rounds, or getting rid of everything. If you’re worried aboutthe new Omnimovement for multiplayer, there are tons of movement settings to customize as well.

2Gobblegums Are Back In Zombies Mode

One thing directly carrying over from Black Ops 3 and that fans of its Zombies mode should rejoice about is the return of Gobblegum. Black Ops 6 puts those dispensers back on the map and allows you to get a chance at receiving some of your favored Gobblegums in your collection to get extra perks during your rounds of Zombies.

While you have Perk-a-Colas and other perks such as Instakills, Max Ammos, and Nukes from Power-Ups, Gobblegums give you an even further advantage to your survival. There are different tiers, such as red for Ultra, orange for Legendary, purple for Epic, blue for Rare, and rainbow for Whimsical. Some will be directly the same as BO3’s, like Pheonix Up, andyou earn more as you play.

1The Classic Prestige System In Multiplayer Returns

In a return to form for Multiplayer, the classic Prestige system is back. This method of Prestiging hasn’t been seen since 2018’s Black Ops 4, as Prestige has turned into a seasonal event from Black Ops Cold War to Modern Warfare 3.

You begin Prestige when you reach Level 55and can do it up to ten times to reach Master Prestige, each time having to start over by re-acquiring all the weapons and Scorestreaks. If this scares you and you choose to opt out of Prestiging, the classic chicken sound will even play from MW2when you exit from the menu.
